News Gigabyte/ASUS/GALAX RTX 4060 Low Profile

Gigabyte is creating an RTX 4060 low-profile card: https://www.tomshardware.com/news/g...-be-the-first-low-profile-ada-lovelace-design

3 fans, single 8-pin, 2 slots.

Pie in the sky, but would love to see an RTX 4060ti (or more crazy RTX 4070) model at some point.

16/01/2023 Addendum

ASUS now has a 4060 Low Profile card.
188mm, triple fan.

Galax has a card
182mm, triple fan, but the PCIE cable is at the front which will affect clearance without a custom solution.
Will advise to look for something slightly bigger

Does anyone thing a Hdplex GAN250w PSU would have a problem with the 4060 LP and a Ryzen 3600x?
Depends on the workload? It will get hot when all components are running at full power, but if you are playing a game at 60-ish fps, the 3600X won't be maxed out and your total system load should stay well below 200W.

So far working fine in my J Hack Pure X. I ran 3dmark stability test and I've been playing Old World, so not the most comprehensive stress.

I have problems seeing Taobao pages here from time to time. On occasion, I get redirected to a login page. My only workaround is to log into Superbuy and see the listing from there.

No issues on Chiphell or Bilibili for me though.

I see Ali at Optimum had a go at designing and printing his own chassis to accommodate the 4060LP and the 250W GaN...

Just wanted to pop in and share that the Gigabyte 4060 will fit inside an ML09 when deshrouded. But just barely!

I'm using two Noctua fans (NF-A8 PWM chromax and NF-A6x25 PWM) fastened to the case's fan mounts for the cooling, with washers added to push the fans as close to the heatsink as possible. Turns out you can't fit two 80x25mm fans in here due to the second slot's DP interface getting in the way. And with there being no chromax variant of the NF-A6x25... it just sticks out a bit compared to the rest of my build. But it works!

It doesn't stay quite as cool as the stock fans, but it's able to go up to 2790 MHz with just undervolting. Pretty satisfying IMO.
How did you get to the two tiny screws covered by the PCB close to the ports?

A little magic and the problem is solved
Can you do that for mine please? 😊
Currently rocking Silverstone 5010 FTFs superglued directly to the heatsink 😅
Would prefer to use the original shroud and fans of course. Or the shortened mod which I hope is released soon.

Scratch that, I've managed to successfully crossflash the quiet VBIOS and overclocked VBIOS from another Gigabyte card.

It's hard to tell how well it works as the RTX4060 power measurement is fairly bogus at best, but with the +13% set in Afterburner HWInfo shows 130W usage at full tilt compared to 115W with the stock LP VBIOS.

But - GREAT NEWS --> FAN STOP / Zero RPM Fan mode WORKS !!

I've also managed a slightly higher TimeSpy Graphics score at 11,705 when paired with the same hardware as before.
So... there's a drawback from the crossflash that I've only just realised...

Pro: Zero RPM fan mode
Con: Fans when run at 100% fan spin noticeably slower

Look at GPU Fan1 MAX for each of these. BIOS in use can be seen through the model displayed

3,511 rpm at 100% fan for the GAMING OC-8GD

4,441 rpm at 100% fan for the OC-8GL

Sad :(

Starting to see the ASUS model become available.

Somehow I only just noticed that the Asus version has a SIX pin PCIe power connector.

Help. My 4060 is idle at the desktop 26°C and it says it is drawing 50+ watts and fans 5800RPM. Terrible noise. I'm on 551 drivers, came from 540. Same problem.

I used NVCleaninstall and checked clean install, and did a restart of the PC.

Edit: I am probably having a hardware broken PWM wire (no doubt due to handling/disassembly). I did try MSI afterburner and it had no effect. Also this fan speed is higher than what others report as maximum.
