News Gigabyte/ASUS/GALAX RTX 4060 Low Profile

Gigabyte is creating an RTX 4060 low-profile card: https://www.tomshardware.com/news/g...-be-the-first-low-profile-ada-lovelace-design

3 fans, single 8-pin, 2 slots.

Pie in the sky, but would love to see an RTX 4060ti (or more crazy RTX 4070) model at some point.

16/01/2023 Addendum

ASUS now has a 4060 Low Profile card.
188mm, triple fan.

19/04/2024 Addendum

Galax has a card
182mm, triple fan, but the PCIE cable is at the front which will affect clearance without a custom solution.
Will advise to look for something slightly bigger

Fascinating how close they are to each other even though they are so fundamentally different products.

But now I'm curious what a shunt-modded 4000 ADA with 115W power draw and a Gigabyte LP cooler would do...

RTX 4090 money for an "RTX 4060 Ti Super". Or for us AMD folk, it's an RX 7900 XT along with a full system around it.
The SFF tax is very real. But so is the lack of options for the <7L builds, even though the hardware has the capability as Erick demonstrates. Well done ! It looks amazing !

This card enables sub 2.5L builds (I should know, I made one). Low profile is a whole different ballgame than just "ITX" or "SFF". I would really like to see an RX7600 low profile at the very minumum. Give Nvidia some competition. It boggles the mind AMD is letting Nvidia hold the crown for a market so easy for them to win, all they have is the RX6400.

sooo... I didn't think this was possible, but some Chinese Modders made a (kinda) single slot cooler for the 4060LP and managed to fit it in the 1L Lenovo Tiny

This thing is batshit crazy - its basically DIY notebook tech 😍
The heatpipe routing to the CPU cooler is basically a replication of how Lenovo (ThinkPad) builds their dGPU notebook coolers.
I know this kinda setup very well, as I've got two dGPU ThinkPad T520 cpu coolers sitting around, for the T520p mod (quadcore CPUs, like the i7-2760QM or i7-2670QM, require improved cooling, and somebody figured out the dGPU coolers are perfect for this job).

Lenovo also did this with the P/T1000 GPUs in their Tinys

Are you not going to run Ivy Bridge processors? 3612QM is faster and only 35w (4672
Vs 4370 all core. 1541 vs 1534 single core. CPUbenchmark .net)
I will admit I put a T530 motherboard inside a T520 case. Cannot recommend, was a hack. I might still have that T520 motherboard around though, maybe I should flash it for Ivy Bridge? 😆

Hi everyone!
Could some Gigabyte 4060 LP owners measure length between screws holes, height and width, on the backplate?
I'm trying to figure out if I could pick up some heatsink from GTX 1030 LP and place it on 4060, maybe it could handle the heat for undevolted card.

Not sure I could squeeze the card with stock heatsink inside the case I want to use with it. I think I need not just only a blower but the whole laptop cooler along with heatsink

What for? I already got all the important parts. And its the maximum investment in the T520 I gonna do. Already invested enough of my time and money in the before times.

If I was to do any kind of motherboard implants, it'd be from a Framework 13 or 16, and if possible, that'd be in the T6x / Z6x series (because superior keyboard).

Curious about the case, and it is quite low profile with the fan shroud off. Also there is that one tall DisplayPort which sticks up, it may need to be trimmed down or de-soldered.

Just curious, I guess I'm the weirdo with a box full of processors for t520/t530 😆. I think I may have got most of them in a lot. I even got a QM CPU with a bad iGPU, but when the laptop is in Discrete mode with nvidia it works fine!

Initially I was looking for SGPC K17, I really like how this case looks and it got a plenty of room to place deshrouded 4060 with laptop blowers inside. But it sold out everywhere, unfortunately.
So if anyone has it for sale, please DM, this case is preferable to me)

Currently thinking about to give a shot DX01, but it will require some changes in order to place a GPU inside. Not sure I will end up with placing GPU inside at all)

Thanks for sharing. I would be very interested to know if K17 fits the H610i-P motherboard. It is longer front to back than a normal ITX.

DX01 I do not think any GPU would fit inside, but maybe outside and have a mesh screen for protection?

I was looking at something like this, very simple: https://www.amazon.com/BUD-Industries-AC-424-Aluminum-Chassis/dp/B005T58WWE

Late to the party I know. Looking to get the RTX 4060 Gigabyte LP. I'll be putting it into a Yocto+ case with GaN 250 PSU so would like to undervolt. I believe Afterburner would allow me to do that but how can I save any undervolt setting to the cards VBIOS? I use Linux as my main OS & of course Afterburner doesn't run on Linux. Thanks

I know Green With Envy (GWE) used to support undervolting nVidia dGPUs in Linux but not sure if it’s updated for recent generations. But worth looking into it.

I don’t know of any way to set undervolt/power/etc in VBIOS

What CPU? What refresh rate is your display? With the right CPU choice there is no need to undervolt the GPU.
I run a Ryzen 5700X at 50W and the 4060 at stock with a 250W GaN. Works flawlessly and the CPU is never ever a bottleneck.
