Hello,

I'm in the process of upgrading a client’s machine—a Lazer3D XL7 originally built around six years ago. The client doesn’t use the system for gaming and has no need for a discrete graphics card, as their primary use is investment management through web-based software. The workload is almost entirely 2D and very light on GPU demand, so I’m planning to exclude a dedicated GPU to keep costs down while aiming for some modest performance improvements.

Here’s the proposed parts list for the upgrade:
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 8700G 4.2 GHz 8-Core (with integrated graphics)
  • CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-L9A-AM5 CHROMAX.BLACK (low-profile, 33.84 CFM)
  • Motherboard: ASUS ROG STRIX B650E-I (Mini-ITX)
  • Memory: Crucial Pro Overclocking 32GB (2x16GB) DDR5-6000 CL36
  • Storage: Samsung 980 Pro 1TB M.2 PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD
  • Power Supply (option 1): Cooler Master V750 SFX GOLD, 750W, Fully Modular, 80+ Gold
  • Power Supply (option 2): HDPLEX 500W GaN AIO
My two main questions:
  1. Will this build fit and operate reliably within the Gemcase C9 4.4L chassis?
  2. How reliable is the HDPLEX 500W GaN AIO power supply in real-world use? Would it be a better choice over the Cooler Master V750 given the small form factor?
I appreciate any insights or recommendations. Thanks in advance!
