News Gigabyte/ASUS/GALAX RTX 4060 Low Profile

Gigabyte is creating an RTX 4060 low-profile card: https://www.tomshardware.com/news/g...-be-the-first-low-profile-ada-lovelace-design

3 fans, single 8-pin, 2 slots.

Pie in the sky, but would love to see an RTX 4060ti (or more crazy RTX 4070) model at some point.

16/01/2023 Addendum

ASUS now has a 4060 Low Profile card.
188mm, triple fan.

19/04/2024 Addendum

Will advise to look for something slightly bigger

True, there is no real need to undervolt unless you're targeting reduced power/thermals or are running a higher power CPU. My 250W GaN was happily running the 5600G at 95W and the RTX4060 at 115W at full tilt 24/7, although it did get warm.

If you're running a 125W+ CPU then could be a bit tight, or at least may want some cooling over the GaN itself.

So... there's a drawback from the crossflash that I've only just realised...

Pro: Zero RPM fan mode
Con: Fans when run at 100% fan spin noticeably slower

Look at GPU Fan1 MAX for each of these. BIOS in use can be seen through the model displayed

3,511 rpm at 100% fan for the GAMING OC-8GD

4,441 rpm at 100% fan for the OC-8GL

Sad :(
hey SFFMunkee, I have the 4060 OC LP and flashed like you did with nvflashk, but the fans still run constantly. Can you tell me if I'm doing something wrong?
I ran ".\nvflashk.exe -i0 -6 .\Gigabyte.RTX4060.8192.230523_1.rom" and it worked just fine. Afterwards Gigabyte Control Center shows the option for quiet mode, but nonetheless the card continues to make the same noise. Appreciate any insight. My plan after I get this configured properly is to take it out of my windows box and place it in a 2U rack mounted server that's in an area where noise levels need to be at a minimum.

It will only turn off if you have fans on auto, not sure if gigabyte control center would do it properly. I use afterburner. Will have a look when back home

Thanks sir, will try with Afterburner. Appreciate any further feedback you have.

Of interest, there’s the new LZ Mod A24-V6 case which can fit low profile cards up to 190mm. So that means the ASUS card will fit.

It's not good for these gpu's, due to them pushing their hot air down and being blocked by the already heated psu. Fine for blower cards though.
The A24-v5 is still better due to having ventilation on both sides where the gpu exhales it's air.

Wow, what a half-baked design. If you swap the position of the PSU and GPU by using a shorter riser cable you would gain the whole distance of the riser's PCIe slot from the PSU. Also would gain access to vent the air out the bottom from a 4060.
It's possible this design was copy-pasted from a case for full height cards using DC DC and external PSUs.
So close. And now you know why so many custom cases are being made.

I know it is a bit off-topic in the Low Profile section,
but I was able to get a Low Pfrofile Single Slot Capture Card in my Densium APU Case
and do showcase the setup both with the 250W GaN by HDPLEX and the new Enhance ENP-8345L
450W Flex PSU by @Overtek all together with the RYZEN 8700G APU it makes a great match:

Hope you like the content! <3

Dang, sweet case. Soo close, it needs a 2 Slot option for the RTX 4060 LP. Just make the faceplate hollowed and put the GaN in the faceplate. (Although since my external Alienware 240w GaN is fine running a 12500t and the 4060 you could just do a 20v input PicoPSU.)

Hey, could anyone tell me if I am doing something wrong or if my card is just faulty/bad chip.

Last year I got myself RTX 4060 LP from gigabyte but I am having constant thermal issues with the card. I am running it in a LZmod A24-V5 case. The card easily hits 88-89 degreees at 4400 RPM while gaming, decreasing boost clock as it hits temperature target.

I wouldn't be worried if such temperature would be hit on a hot day and with a stock settings. Yet I swapped the original thermal paste for PTM7950 (legit), and applied rather aggresive undervolt -208mV across all frequencies, usual temperature in my room is ~22°C
I have a power limit set to 100% and temperature limit pushed to 88°C, +1200 MHz memory OC
Do you have any tips? I doubt gigabyte/shop would replace my card given I did disassemble it to change thermal paste. Only thing that keeps the temperatures in a bit lower range is decreasing power limit to 80% but seeing people running the card with 115% PL bios and no 'throttling' while mine can't keep up with 100% and a solid undervolt is just concerning.

You haven’t limited the max frequency / voltage in that screenshot. So it’s still trying to boost extra high, and smashing against thermal and power limits.

Choose your ideal max clock/voltage and drag all the points to the right of it down to below the minimum, then apply.

You should end up with a flat line for the latter part of the graph and dramatically better thermals and performance.

That's not an undervolt. The Y axis is frequency - the X axis is voltage.

iirc, my 4060 LP typically boosts to around 2730Mhz. So, hold left shift and grab the high point and drag to 2730, then grab the point directly in line with 900mv and drag that up to the 2730 line. Press L to lock then apply the setting in the main afterburner window. The curve should plateau at 2730 from the 900mv point.

***I chose 2730MHz and 900mv as examples from memory - my card is in it's box right now while I debate on selling it - choose your own settings or use these as a basis to tweak from - you may find you need a little more voltage or perhaps it's happy with 875mv - or maybe you need to drop to 2650 to maintain a lower voltage.

Thanks a lot for your help! My card finally works somewhat quiet and temperatures hit 80 degrees max, so below any thermal limit. 2720 MHz at 0,95V wasn't entirely stable for my card, but 2655MHz works like a charm. I might experiment more later but for now, I am quite happy that the card is not that hot. Reference Nvidia boost is 2610 Mhz so anything above that it's an overclock probably

Yep! That’s the way to do it, I always start with stock boost freq and see how low I can go in volts. Then start going the other way and see how high I can boost with specified voltages going up a little at a time.

Hi guys, I followed the bios flashing guide to the Gaming OC version. Unfortunately, I lost my original bios. Anyone has a link to download the original bios for our Gigabyte LP 4060? thanks in advance

I think I posted the links somewhere after I uploaded them. Otherwise check TechPowerUp
