News Gigabyte/ASUS/GALAX RTX 4060 Low Profile

Gigabyte is creating an RTX 4060 low-profile card: https://www.tomshardware.com/news/g...-be-the-first-low-profile-ada-lovelace-design

3 fans, single 8-pin, 2 slots.

Pie in the sky, but would love to see an RTX 4060ti (or more crazy RTX 4070) model at some point.

16/01/2023 Addendum

ASUS now has a 4060 Low Profile card.
188mm, triple fan.

19/04/2024 Addendum

Galax has a card
182mm, triple fan, but the PCIE cable is at the front which will affect clearance without a custom solution.
Will advise to look for something slightly bigger

So i'm running more tests with my heatsink and observing odd behaviour. Running benchmarks like Heaven or Furmark, the max temperature is about 73C. However, when running demanding games, temperature gets as high as 80C. This is with the card outside of the case so ambient temperature should be the same. I always assumed benchmark software would put more load on a card than any game. Anyone have more insights? Running more tests tonight...
I would have thought so too, could just be duration? Furmark should be absolutely hammering it though.

Although I have just tested and noticed different behaviour in furmark with the 4060. Normally the clockspeeds get smashed when running furmark, but with my 4060 it's just barely below what I see in TimeSpy?

I was looking at "score explorer" rather than "leaderboad" hence why I saw you as 81st :)

It is definitely also my experience when undervolting that no benchmark truly "loads" the graphics card as well as some games. I have often had undervolts that seemed rock solid in Timespy, Superposition, Heaven, etc. But I boot up Assassin's Creed: Unity and get a game freeze within seconds. Especially now with all the RTX and DLSS stuff most benchmarks are horribly outdated when it comes to stress testing GPUs. It's basically like testing your CPU by only doing additions and subtractions...

Asus' non-ROG stuff is sometimes priced reasonably... I am curious to see how they'll compare in terms of noise and thermals! Maybe this one can be flashed with an ROG Strix BIOS 😁

Very interesting to see demand for this is high enough that Asus also takes the risk of developing a card like this.

Next step: a 4060Ti in this form factor?

Edit: not only is it slightly longer than the Gigabyte, it also seems like the power connector is even further back? That will make it even harder to fit in most LP cases...

185mm isn't a hard limit but rather a guideline not to make the process too frustrating. I guess it could be done, as this is the Gigabyte:

I think the Asus card fits in a lot less cases than we might think. It's 188mm and opposed to Gigabyte's model, the 8pin starts at the very end of the card. So all the cable and it's bend will need additional space - making this require close to 200mm. Gigabyte allow that bend to happen underneath the shroud within it's 182mm length. The length of the Asus card is not due to a longer heatsink, based on the pics it just starts later on the pcb for some reason.
Overall, since the heatsink and the fans are the exact same, I think Gigabyte wins here, yet I sure hope this will introduce some price drops.

The heatsink seems different though. On this render, you can see the heatpipe bend on the IO side of the card, which is opposite to the Gigabyte. It's also nickel plated, which the Gigabyte isn't.

I really don't think it's designed for ITX builds to be honest... That length seems more suitable for those old-fashioned "horizontal" mATX office PC cases. That, and maybe certain "render farm/cuda" use cases where these get crammed in a rack. I wonder why the PCB is that much longer as well, will be very interesting to see a teardown.

ZS A4DC does not fit the Gigabyte 4060 Low Profile which I found out to my disappointment today. Only way it fits is if you deshroud it and use your own fans (the heat sink barely fits).

Not entirely true. If you received the alternate backplate to accommodate a full height PCI bracket and G-UNique power-in, you can fit that backplate behind the front fascia to give you the extra 3mm you need.

Worked perfectly for me.

ZS A4DC V3 probably needs an asterisk, I was able to cram it in and screw the case together with the stock panels but the shroud was definitely flexing. Pretty sure if you shave a mm or two off with a sander it would fit just right though.
