Similar process for me using UPS in Ogdensburg, NY. No box number to rent, just $5 (US) per package per week. Declare at the border and then (usually) stroll inside to pay the HST. That plus gas (don't forget to fill up for cheap in the US) and the bridge toll to cross the St. Lawrence and it's still usually worth the hour drive from Ottawa.

For me it's even cheaper since most of my packages are under $100 so they don't bother charging dues and taxes and I live about 30 minutes from the border. Gas is definitely cheaper there and there are no tolls to pay. Life's good eh.

So, this is neat: We're apparently #3 on Kicktraq's "Top Ten" list (though we have no idea what that actually means):

Laughably, they're estimating that we're trending towards raising over $750,000... which, after some back-of-the-napkin math, seems to be the result of them literally just multiplying today's fundraising figures by the number of days in March XD

We've had a solid start, but the day is young indeed!

Also... No Paypal?

No, Kickstarter exclusively uses Stripe (a PayPal competitor) for payment processing. But you can just use a credit or debit card like you would for any other digital storefront, as you don't need a Stripe account to make payments.

I know what you mean, but if you look at it like this. This is literally the last matx case you will ever need. Also when they are gone they are gone. If you try to buy a compact splash or any other Ltd edition specialist type case the prices are through the roof. This is as cheap as they are going to get and in time they could be an appreciating asset. My money is on will be.

I'm justifying it by not wanting to regret missing out.

Well it may be the last case I need, but not the last one I want - Big difference.
The endgame is a myth.

Well it can go two ways; either this is the only run, but then this will kind of be a "flop" and I really can't see that happening. I think this case is heading more towards how Ncase is selling their M1 now. The kickstarter is only part of the beginning.

For me over here in lil ole New Zealand it comes to just over 600 NZD with shipping and I don't even want to know the importing tax... But gosh is it an absolutely gorgeous piece of craftsmanship.

W00t, another person from NZ :D

In NZ, no duty is payable on this item, however GST and Customs Charges are.
US$249 plus $121 shipping = US$370
At today's exchange rate that makes approx NZ$560.
On $560, $84 in GST is payable, plus Customs+MPI charges of $49.24, so your total border cost would be $133.24. All up to your door you would pay pretty much NZ$693.24.

Add in any freight forwarder charges if you use them to do the clearance, alternatively you can do the import clearance yourself via any Customs Office or via email.

Source? I work in the industry.. in a way.

When the Ncase's project launched, a lot of people also backed off because of shipping. It didn't stop them from selling thousands in the end, although over multiple production runs.

I believe you are in Belgium if I remember correctly? I had a customer from Belgium and his case was delayed in customs for only a few days and only had to pay 30 euros or so in taxes.
It may be that that one customer had a good experience because everything on the documents was filled out perfectly. Still, I've had more than a few packages floating in limbo, needed to wait over a month each time.

The carrier used for shipping was clearly indicated however, and the value of the package was setup in a particular way to try and minimize costs accrued on delivery.

Anyway, I'll be putting in my pledge at some point today. Base unit, I have no interest in the handle or window. :thumb:

I wouldn't consider it a flop if we only ever made this run for Cerberus, personally. Future production runs would be awesome, but they aren't deterministic of how "successful" we are.

Yep, I'll have to fix that tonight when I post our first KS update! Thanks for pointing that out.

How much money do you have to raise to be able to drop the price of production? Just curious.

Now if my taxes would just come in... It's great to see how much support you're getting in just two days.

The only way to significantly drop the price of production is to either go to China or use very automated manufacturing methods.

I wonder if there's a pelican case big enough for the case.

Looks like most of the 1500 and 1600 cases should work. The 1550 in particular looks good: http://www.pelican.com/us/en/product/watertight-protector-hard-cases/medium-case/standard/1550/

Consider me a backer. I wasn't joking when I asked this though:

Kickstarter doesn't handle multiple orders well, so what Joshua and I have discussed is we could take orders direct for a short time after the campaign ends for those who want more than one case and for any stragglers who missed the campaign.

BTW, I have a Predator 240 and Noctua C14S coming in for fit testing, anything else you all want me to check?

If you could see how well the Predator fits at the bottom and/or the front with or without two cards in, that would be appreciated.

Well, I'll be interested to see how it fits in person, but just from the measurements it'll limit card length to ~250mm when mounted to the front (assuming the rad fits) and will block the bottom 3 expansion slots when mounted to the bottom.

A slim card may fit in the third slot, like a network card, but definitely not a video card.
