Maybe, but not right away. I will have to see how things look in month or two.
I assume that the width of the recently announced 7900 XT is too large to fit in the case. I know that both it and the 6800 XT (which does fit) are 2.5 slots for marketing purposes, but I think the 7900 XT is actually larger, right?

According to Techpowerup, the 7000 series reference cards (7900XTX, 7900XT) seem to be increased in width by 5mm, compared to the 6000 series.

This 5mm increase would most likely make it not fit in the PATX v3, especially with an ATX/MATX board. I have a reference 6800XT in my PATX v3 now, and the PCIe cable slot is already right at the edge of the GPU. To me, any increase in the width of the card would make it almost impossible, but I might be wrong.

Anyways, with an ATX board, I would recommend using 2 slot card, as the 2.5 slot reference 6800XT is a very tight fit, and it means the PCIe cable is heavily mashed/folded.

ITX board might be suitable for the newer, wider cards though.

Perhaps the 7800 XT will be the same size as the 6800 XT?

We will know, when the 7800xt is announced.

If you ask me, unlikely, as it would probably be the same size as the 7900XT if going by AMD's 6000 series. Only the 6800 (non-XT) and 6700XT where thinner at 2 slots.

Based on the renders they provided new gpus actually look like true 2.5 slot, so the same as previous reference cards. So yeah if anyone is crazy and willing enough they should fit very tightly. Now XTX is a bit taller so it might get a bit problematic depending on where your pcie slot is, but XT looks to be very reference sized in that dimension so that is great, actually lower than 6xxx cards.

Hmmm, interesting. So maybe I could try something like this:
  • 7900 XT reference GPU
  • 7950x CPU + cooler
  • V850 SFX 850 W PSU
  • ASUS ProArt X670E-Creator motherboard
The CPU might run a little hot, but I currently have the 5950x in the v2 without any issues except in hot summer weather. So if I can just squeeze a 7900 XT or 7800 XT into there, I should be good to go. The perfect desktop for running my models on the go or in any country. As long as ROCm gets support on RDNA 3 soon.

That would be a very nice build for sure. In my opinion zen4 cpus are even better for sff systems and small coolers, they have a very good internal regulation and will always use the max potential of any cooler.

I do see that TechPowerUp claims that the 7900XT has a width of 135 mm, relative to 120 mm for the 6800 XT. So is that wrong? Or is that not relevant for the fit?

They often get it wrong before the launch. We will see soon, but it looks to be the same height as 6900xr ref

Did up my PATX again (with nicer cables management i hope), after getting my 5950X. Went back to the AXP100.

The RX 7900 XT reference is actually even smaller than the RX 6800 XT. So it would be even a better fit in the PATX with an ATX board.

This is definitely one of the best builds in P-ATX I have ever seen, very clean and great hardware!

@riba Now that the RDNA 3 GPUs have been released, does my previous set of components still look as if they will fit? What about the 7900 XTX?

Well 7900xt ref has standard height (111mm) so it should fit tightly (width wise since it is a 2.5 slot). Not sure for 7900xtx ref though, they don't provide that spec on official site and it is entered wrong on techpowerup. It looks like it could potentially fit tightly looking at the picture, but I cannot guarantee (it might be just a few mm to tall, unless your pcie port is in the first position, then it should fit ).
