A trick could make the latest Nvidia game-ready driver work on this modded graphic card with mobile GPU chips without 3rd party software.

1: Download the latest driver on Nvidia's website

2: Extract it using 7zip or other unzip tools

3: Get to the device manager, right-click on the GPU device with an exclaimation mark, and select update driver

4: Select the correct inf in the unzip files and try to install the 1660ti max Q driver, if nothing goes wrong the driver should be able to recognize the GPU and the exclamation mark in the device manager should be gone

5: Double-click the driver you downloaded in step 1 and perform normal installation again. If not the DLSS function will be bugged and unable to turn on in the game.
So I can confirm this method works for me.
I got the 4070m and I haven't been able to make a NVCleanstall driver yet. But this method worked.
I'm yet to test RTX features, but 3DMark time spy seems to run without issues with a score of 9430

I haven't tried Linux, only Win10/11
Hey bud @REVOCCASES , can you let me know what device id and inf file you chose in NVCleanstall to build your driver ? I've spent a good 3 hours last night trying multiple id's and can't find the right one. The only thing I managed to do is use the trick to install the card using 1660 ti max-q driver, and that seems to work. I've got the 4070m with device id: 2860.

P.S. What's interesting about the card is it works out of the box in Linux (Batocera). No custom drivers required there.

See Post 24

You can also try the drivers from MORE FINE

Ok so I figured out the process.
Here it is:

Install 7zip if you already don't have it installed
Run NVCleanstall 1.19.0 (current as of September 2025)
Select: Manually select driver version and Show all versions
Select: 581.29 Windows 10/11 64bit Notebook DCH (current as of September 2025).
Click Next
On the "Select Components to install" screen, select everything
Click Next
Wait for all the files to download and extract
On the "Installation tweaks" screen select: "Add Hardware Support"
For "Template", from the drop down menu select: GeForce GTX 1650 with Max-Q Design [1F91.0032.1414] nvmsoi.inf
For: "Id" add 2860 so the entire line reads: PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_2860
For "Name" append "4070m" at the end of : NVIDIA Graphics Device so it looks like this: NVIDIA Graphics Device 4070m
Click Next
Click Build Package, give it a name: newdriver.exe
Once the package is built, you can exit NVCleanstall.
Run the new compile driver and follow installation prompts. Make sure to select Express Install function.
After the installation is complete, you will notice in Device Manager the GPU comes up as: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Laptop GPU (with a yellow exclamation mark)

In Windows Explorer Right click on your newdriver.exe and select 7zip -> Extract. to: "newdriver\"
Wait till the decompression is done and go back to Device Manager
Right click on the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Laptop GPU (with yellow exclamation mark) and then select: Update Driver
Select: Browse my computer for drivers
Select: Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer
Select: have disk -> browse
point at the "newdriver/Display.Driver" directory where the extract driver is and select: nvmsoi -> Open -> Ok
Select: NVIDIA Graphics Device 4070m -> Next
Wait for drivers to finish installing. Your GPU should now be up and running correctly without yellow checkmark in Device Manager.

Also wanted to provide another update, as of the latest butterfly version of Batocera linux, this 4070m card is natively compatible without having to install any modified drivers

An odd request since I am fighting with superbuy. Has anyone purchased this video card through superbuy? If so, was the item shipped as an "appliance"? And last part, if it wasn't shipped as an appliance, can you provide your tracking number so I can prove to superbuy that they messed up.

Long story is that I ordered this and they shipped it as an appliance. It never made it to me but they are saying since it's an appliance then it doesn't qualify for a refund.

I ordered a 3050M via Superbuy. On the customs declaration, it was classified as 8471604000, which is under the section "SECTION 16: MACHINERY AND MECHANICAL APPLIANCES; ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT; PARTS THEREOF; SOUND RECORDERS AND REPRODUCERS, TELEVISION IMAGE AND SOUND RECORDERS AND REPRODUCERS, AND PARTS AND ACCESSORIES OF SUCH ARTICLES"

Shipping method used was SF Air Mail (Small).
The associated tracking number shows successful delivery, which was indeed the case for me.

If your card was lost in transit, that seems like something you should take up with the shipping company.

Yeah I submitted a lost package with USPS 2 months ago, but they never found it. Guess this will be a $300 loss. Odd that all of my CPUs were shipped with a much better shipping method and not marked as an appliance.

Sounds like a scam. I think I'd be claiming a charge back from my credit card company.

To be fair, superbuy did send the package. They said they could refund me the entire amount if I can prove that someone else has ordered through superbuy and it was not shipped as an appliance and I can give them that tracking info. Hence my odd post here.

I hate to ask you both, but would it be possible for you to provide your tracking information or parcel information? Both of those are different than my customs declaration. Thanks so much. I would be nice to get a refund and maybe buy another.
Umm, did you mean to quote someone else? I didnt buy one of these GPUs.
