I thought @Josh | NFC was pulling our legs when releasing this title on YouTube. But apparently it exists!

I am amazed how you can make something this powerful in such a small form factor. Now I wonder why it is so difficult for big companies to make 750+ W SFX PSUs, if HDPLEX can make this....

Thank you @Josh | NFC for the video!

stacking the 800W combo and two 400W ACDC bricks together might be hard for the passive cooling i think? o_o

i mean it'll be better to separate them, but for the sake of the argument comparing to SFX....

Yeah, but you don't need to have it fanless in the SFX form factor, do you? :p

ehh i'll reserve judgement untill i see a teardown review of the SF750 ._. even the SF600 is pretty packed-in

Looks pretty amazing, it's been teased multiple times during the testing of the 400W DC-ATX & AC-DC units over the last few months though. I think it was around October when it was first teased.

Interesting, but I'm not sure with the thermal. Would love to see that thing get tested somewhere in equator like South East Asia.

And yes I'm willing to be the guinea pig ;)

The AN1600i has GaN transistors in it, I wonder whether the HDPLEX 800 and the SF750 has them too. If so, it would explain why now: GaN only recently matured enough to actually put 'em in commercial products.

technically this has a total volume larger than SFX psus.

(180 mm x 58 mm x 40 mm x 2 + 181.50mm x 66mm x 30mm ) vs 100 mm x 125 mm x 63.5mm
1.19L vs 0.79L

Unless my math is wrong, which is very possible! Stacking them on top of each other as best as possible (181.5 mm x 66mm x 120mm ) its bounding box would end up taking up quite a lot more space.

The advantage of something like this is not over all size, but the modularity if you designed specifically with it in mind. 1 half to left of mobo, 1 half to right instead of all to the left.

This is also not including adding fans to the 400w AC-DC units, or the mounting wings which would increase the bounding box numbers.

Edit: actually seems to also be bigger than SFX-L (125 mm x 63.5 mm x 130 mm = 1.03L) units in total volume

True, all true. But then again, you dont have all the shrouds and heatsinks in the same way in an sfx. I mean, you would probably also have a completely layout for the psu components in such a format, wouldn't you?

Not saying it would be easy, but should be pausibles.

But I digress. I just wanted to share the news about the HEPLEX 800W unit

I'm curious at their decision to use that particular form factor for the 800W DC unit. I'm guessing it's specifically for some of their HD-PLEX passive cases, because it does not look like it can fit the rear openings designed for SFX power supplies.

If you DO stack all three of these, you can't get them hot. If you run the 400 under 400w it stays quite cool, 300, and it stays ice cold. It's amazing...

Another question I have is: will the 400W unit stay in production after the introduction of the 800W unit? HDPLEX stopped making the 300W unit when the 400W was released. I wish the 300W version was still in production with upgraded components to remove the coil whine. It is smaller than the 400W with its smaller heat sink and thus can fit in tighter spaces. Or am I wrong in this statement?

The 800w unit is not a replacement for the 400w. The 400w is the current flagship product for us SFF enthusiasts. The 800w unit is literally two 400 units on one board, and is intended for industrial applications. This doesn't stop us from using it in weird builds, but it requires two DC inputs in order to utilize 800w.

The 300 and 400 are identical in size save for the length--the 400w is 10.5mm longer. The 800w unit is much larger than the current 400w.

The 400w DC is about as perfect as it gets right now. It runs cool, quiet, and it can peak at 460 and hold peak for about 30 minutes before thermal shutdown. It can run at 400 continuous with very low electrical noise.

The 400w AC is an incredible product and I have NO reservations about recommending it, but it will have to go through a couple revisions to be perfect, I think, but that will happen naturally over time like any product. Right now it is much, MUCH better than I was even hoping for.

Peace
