EK has revealed their 6800/6900 velocity water block. Any chance this can be snugged into M1 V6.1?
Not sure if 139mm is too wide since this number does not include the PCIE connector.

If you can find the same type of measurements for a ekwb 5700xt waterblock, I have it on my Ncase and the waterblock just touches the side panel, so anything bigger wont fit.

its because its too wide. The maximum that is given on the Ncase site is 140 mm while this card is 141,3 mm. Maybe you can use the technique that was shown in This video around 6:15. But with a different side that you unscrew. It could make things easier to install.
And can you maybe share some pictures of it installed? Im quite curious how it will sit in the case.

I personally was able to install a Zotac 3070 Twin Edge without any issue. Just removed the old graphics card and put the 3070 in. The clearance is really tight, but the side panel goes on without issue and without bulging

I checked the card out and unfortunately the Sapphire Nitro + SE Edition is to long for Ncase M1. It wont fit.
I got the tip to check out the Gigabyte 6800 Aorus versions. Those are 3 slot, but shorter. Or else I will wait till February 2021 for Nvidia 3070 TI.

It's just, this generation GPU cards are huge and don't have great designs in my opinion.
Only one I like of this generation is the FE cards from Nvidia. I hope sincerely that I can get my hands on a 3080 FE. Will be challenging but worth it. Amd is just not an option for me, and AIB cards are all just ugly IMO. And that FE is just too good looking and too cool to not get.

So the 3090 FE may be able to fit with this water block installed? The block seems to be 122mm at the tallest point.

Is it possible to change how the CPU cooler orientation? The way it is mounted in the photos is the worst way to install a Top-Flow heatsink.

I looked up some of the new AMD card dimensions not already in the first post.
It seems like only the GIGABYTE cards will fit, but only with the front-io removed...

The Gigabyte 3070 Gaming OC appears to fit judging from the listed dimensions, but I don't see it on the compatibility list. If anyone has that particular card, could they confirm this?

Yes I set them at a fixed rate around 1100rpm, it allows me to delay the fan curve. But it’s louder when the cards fans ramp up. Maybe there are some turbulences, I am not sure, maybe I just pay more attention to noise than before..

Thanks for the heads up! I think this was the only way to get it to fit in the case (with my motherboard, the top cover wouldn't fit with the 3rd or 4th orientation in that diagram), but I'll double check if the first orientation fits when I get a chance

Yes, I believe the 6800xt waterblock won't fit. Just for reference, here is the spec for 5700xt waterblock.

Here, I've overlaid the PCB and filled in some of the other dimensions so it's clear:



The PCIe connector adds ~13mm to the height, for a total of 152mm, as I stated previously. You can also look at the ports, which overhang by ~28.4mmm, based on my measurement. These might be a little off, but either way it's still going to be too tall.

Depends on the ticket. Simple tickets are usually within 24 hours. If it's more complicated and takes some time to figure out, it may take longer.


For anyone who's interested in water cooling 6800xt, here is the conclusion based on my experience:

1. The only possible option (for now) is reference design pcb + ekwb velocity block + 90 degree customized cnc plexi terminal.
In my current build, I'm using a 90 degree terminal for my 5700xt red devil and it's about 9mm thick. For 6800xt reference design, this number can be loosened to 11~12mm.

2. Based on the measurement above, the space for terminal is only 13mm. This number should be pretty accurate as I calculated based on the width of my 5700xt red devil water block without terminal.
That being said, none of the manufactures can provide a usable waterblock for ncase m1 because the G1/4 hole is 11.8mm, they can't make a regular terminal to include a G1/4 for only 13mm unless they use "uni-body" style copper instead of plexi and screws.

3. On top of that, the slimmest AIB 6800xt card is about 145mm wide (Sapphire nitro+ and red devil). As for my 5700xt red devil, this number is 143 and I have to keep my customized terminal to be 9mm thick. So if you consider AIB 6800xt, you need to make a 7mm thick terminal. It's doable, but plexi can't handle the pressure, you will have to use copper. Also you need to wait EKWB or other manufactures to provide the respective AIB waterblock.

With GPUs increasing in size and the GPU options growing less, are there any thoughts or discussions on reevaluating the size of the M1 for future iterations? I'm looking at my V5 and the list of hoops I have to jump through for some cards seems very troubling.
