What did you do today?

Happy cake days! I moved into an SFF apartment over the weekend and finished the SFF workspace which turned out great. I don't mind dropping from 42sqm to 27sqm at all, as room height and layout design have seen quite a few advancements during the last couple of decades...

Can't wait to see the batteries that monster will need...
I'm thinking about two of these, but I could really use advice on this (later). Mind you, I'm not contemplating to have it play 10 hours at full blast though.

What voltage will your boombox run at?
It's all car audio gear, so most likely I'm going for 14.5V if possible. Input voltage will be 230V AC though, also to charge the batteries.

Remotely assisted my colleagues, fought my cold, tried to ease the tension in my arm muscles (never going hard on arm day ever again), started looking at the code for the driver for my tablet again, and started using my new mouse.

Got decent amount done today:

- Modeled up version 6 of my HDPlex 300w AC-DC mod I'm working on

- Got some cables made and ordered a new crimper (the legit Molex ones, excited to try them out :))

- And got my SFF forum swag in the mail :)

_______________________________________________

Tomorrow will be a busy day: I'll be picking up the prints of the v5 mod parts and getting that all assembled (testing will have to wait until I get the HDPlex 400w on Monday) should be getting more cable supplies in the mail and then I'm looking to finish a few orders as well.

Should be fun :)

It's my cakeday! :) Also managed to accomplish a fair bit of programming for Project: TEC. I feel fairly confident about its capabilities, but I do worry about the UI. Right now the input lag is fairly inconsistent and that sucks for identifying cause. I'm sure I can get around that by actually using a scheduling method though, right now it does everything, every time - and it doesn't need to. I'll try to solve it in software first, but if I wanted I could go overboard and create a Parallax: Propeller based microcontroller, essentially giving me 8 threads to work with as opposed to 1. Or do the sane thing and move up to an Arduino Mega or something.

I'm also waiting for pre-orders to open back up for the S4 Mini so that I can move my current rig in there until TEC's case is complete. By that time I'll probably gift my current rig (with a gpu upgrade) to my gf and build a Coffee Lake system (or whatever is relevant at the time) for TEC. I'll have to do proof of concept testing in my current LFF case though :/ sorry guys!

Happy Cake Day! Doing the sane thing is a good idea or you could go with a STM32 microcontroller.

Happy Cake Day to ya!!

I'm excited to see the how the TEC project goes, glad you're feeling good about its capabilities :)

I too await the S4 Mini, if only to finally have one in hand and do a build in it :)

Are you building a special case for the TEC project? I don't remember seeing anything about that in the project thread. Of course I could have just missed it (or not be caught up yet, notifications for threads have been little weird for me lately)

Thank you all!

Yeah I was thinking it would probably be a better use of time to go with a preexisting solution. I really enjoy working in the Arduino IDE so I'll shop around for what has support. I was considering using an ARM based processor when I made my own controller.

I feel about the notifications, apparently clearing your browser cache can help with that.

I think by the end of the project outline it mentions something about making a custom enclosure. I have some preliminary sketches and a few ideas of what I want, but I need to collect data points first to know how much radiator space I'll need to make available. Since it isn't immediately obvious to me I actually wound up giving it support for SFX-L, Flex ATX, and HDPlex for various amounts of radiator space in an enclosure that measures ~12 liters :p we'll see, it was designed around EK stuff and that could change.
