They were Meze Empyrean 2s. Amazing build quality, although the HiFiMan Edition XS I have set a fairly low bar for that.

I think if the headband was either padded underneath or if it was made of something thinner and more compliant like suede or lambskin then I would have happily kept them and never looked at buying another pair of headphones. Then I could have started on my quest for the perfect DAC and Amp instead! 😁
just looked them up welp
the most comfortable headphones i have tried so far are the sh hd800s but the way they sounded was not for me at the time

Yeah, me too. I haven't ever heard electrostats. I believe the Warwick Bravura is pretty amazing too.

The only Koss I might buy soon are a pair of super cheap KPH30i with some Yaxi pads. I know they're comfortable, and they have to be the best bang for buck ever. I need something cheap and comfy for long boring Teams meetings at the office, and those fit the bill.

The Sennheiser HD 800s are due for an upgrade at some point, and if they find a way to give them some more bass I might be tempted. Apparently, they have a huge soundstage and great imaging so they're really good for gaming.

Wasn't sure whether to post this in "Show your new toys or here", but unfortunately, after many years of waiting to get my dream headphones, I eventually was in a position to buy them in December. I returned them today ☹️

They sounded fantastic, but unfortunately, after adjusting everything I just couldn't get a comfortable fit and the headband would create a sore spot at the top of my head after less than 30 min.

If you have comfortable headphones, or even better, ones you forget you're wearing all together, don't take it for granted!
My workaround: I do own TWO pairs of headphones, that I'm wearing depending on how I feel and also the use case.

So I got these fancy Audio-Technica ATH-M50xBT2, which is a classic Over-Ear style studio / DJ headset, and then I got the less exciting-looking but nonetheless very solid Soundcore Liberty 3 Pro for In-Ears. Those are perfect for wearing outside, or when I only want one ear usage, which obviously doesnt really work with Over-Ears.

BTW: I'm wearing my Audio-Technica in mirrored direction, ie. the left on the right side, because I also had some issues with the headband. Next, I'm right-handed, so having the bluetooth controls on the left doesnt seem very useful. Just by switching the sides the headband issues disappeared, and the covering / positioning of the ear pieces improved as well.
