------------------------------------
CPU cooler:
IMPORTANT: These are the only CPU coolers with guaranteed compatibility. If the cooler you wish to use does not appear in this list, it is not guaranteed to be compatible but may still work.
Some CPU coolers have large backplates. All such known coolers are marked with an asterisk * and have 5 mm less height clearance available, but will still be compatible. It is recommended to choose a cooler 52 mm in height or below if planning to use the case with a single slot graphics card or no graphics card, and to strictly choose a cooler from the "37 mm and below" list if using a dual slot graphics card.

37 mm and below (with two expansion slots)
  • Noctua NH-L9i
  • Noctua NH-L9a
57 mm and below (with one expansion slot)
  • Cryorig C7*
*Only 52 mm clearance available for this cooler

------------------------------------
Graphics card:
Any card 183 mm in length or less.

------------------------------------
Storage:
For a boot drive, choose an M.2 SSD. They can be bought for about the same price as 2.5" SSD's and will simplify cable management.
For high capacity storage, choose 2.5" mechanical hard drives or 2.5" SSD's.

------------------------------------
Memory:
RAM with short or absent heatsinks simplifies cable management.

Dimensions: 185 x 97 x 225 mm
Weight: 0.55 kg (1.2 lb)
  • Graphics card: Variable between 170 -183 mm. Length: 183 mm maximum at 4.0 L, 179 mm at 3.9 L, 174 mm at 3.8 L, 170 mm at 3.7 L. See component layouts for more details. Height: 142 mm.
  • PSU: Flex ATX, 150 mm maximum. Note: most modular Flex ATX power supplies are longer than the Flex ATX specification and will NOT be compatible.
  • CPU cooler: 37 mm with two expansion slots, 52 - 57 mm with one expansion slot. See component layouts and "CPU cooler" under "recommended hardware" for more details.
  • RAM: 45 mm with two expansion slots, 60 - 65 mm with one expansion slot.

  • 52 or 57 mm cooler + no card + fans................3
  • 52 or 57 mm cooler + no card............................3

Q: Can I use my own riser?
A: Compatibility is only guaranteed for the LiHeat 300 mm D type risers. Other risers 30 cm in length (measured edge to edge) may physically fit but will not mount onto screws and may leave the graphics card insecurely fastened.

Q: Is the GEEEK modular Flex ATX power supply compatible with this case?
A: No.

Q: What is the CPU cooler clearance if no graphics card is used?
A: Same as with one expansion slot. One expansion slot always remains available.

Q: Are there covers for openings in the back if no graphics card is used?
A: Not yet. Covers may become available sometime in the future.

Q: Can I use a DC-DC power supply?
A: There are no adapters available yet to mount these power supplies. It is recommended to wait until they become as an add-on item in the future or become available in a future revision of the case.

VK-3: The most compact brick-less case with support for ITX sized graphics cards. Also supports APU builds with stock coolers. Allows you to achieve better cooling compared to open air with use of case fans. Fits easily into small backpacks along with other items.

Revision: 1.1
  • PSU: Flex ATX
  • CPU cooler (with two expansion slots): 37 mm
  • CPU cooler (with one expansion slot): 52 - 57 mm. Fits Wraith Stealth.
  • External volume (with 170 mm card): 3.7 L
  • Footprint: 180 cm^2
User Manual
Changes in VK-3 rev 1.1
  • new black color
  • thumbscrews for riser and power supply installation
  • zip ties replaced with reusable cable ties for internal and external cables
  • top and bottom gaps now closed when case is extended
  • one 2 x 16 cm back panel gap now closed when case is used in single slot mode
  • one 2 x 16 cm back panel gap now closed when case is used in dual slot mode without expansion card
  • no bend lines on front panel (cosmetic defect on rev 1.0)
  • VF-8010-PWM fans now have heat-shrink cover for wires for easier management
  • more symmetrical side panel
  • easier 2.5" drive installation on CPU side
  • honeycomb perforation on case bottom
  • improved compatibility with rear mounted M.2 SSD

This list contains some common misconceptions about the case
  • ALL non-standard (modified) Flex ATX power supplies are incompatible with this case. This includes Geeek Flex ATX power supplies and all modular Flex ATX power supplies from Aliexpress and Taobao.
  • The HDPLEX 400W HiFi DC-ATX power supply is NOT officially supported
  • The maximum fan dimensions are 80 x 10 mm
  • The case exterior comes in 3 colors: silver (natural color of undyed aluminum), gray, and black. Front, top, and bottom sides are brushed. Left and right sides are blasted. Back is powder-coated black. White exterior color option is not offered.
  • The volume of the case is calculated by the exterior excluding protrusions such as the rubber feet and power button.
  • Only the 300 mm LiHeat D type riser is compatible with this case. There is a possibility that other risers will work, however they will not screw in at the intended location and the mount may be insecure.

Power supply:
If using a graphics card that requires power connector:
  • (~$90) SilverStone SST-FX350-G
    • 350 W, black casing, braided cables, 6 pin GPU power, 80+ Gold
  • (~$90) FSP Group FSP400-60FGGBA
    • 400 W, 6+2 pin GPU power, 80+ Gold. Quieter than other options, less cable clutter compared to 500W variant below. Best value.
    • Note: European version of this power supply does NOT have 6+2 pin connector.
  • (~$110) FSP Group FSP500-50FGGBN
    • 500 W, dual 6+2 pin GPU power, 80+ Gold
  • ($~130) Enhance ENP-7660B
    • 600 W, dual 6+2 pin GPU power, 80+ Platinum. Can be found on eBay, ships worldwide.
If using a graphics card without a power connector or no graphics card:
  • (~$90) SilverStone SST-FX350-G
    • black casing, braided cables, 350 W, 6 pin GPU power, 80+ Gold
  • (~$55) FSP Group FSP220-60LE(80)
    • 220 W, 80+
  • (~$110) FSP Group FlexGURU 300W
    • black casing, black modular cables, 300W, 80+ Gold
Other Flex ATX power supplies can be obtained for as little as $25 in some regions, suitable for builds with low power graphics that do not require additional connectors.

For a boot drive, consider an M.2 SSD. They can be bought for about the same price as 2.5" SSDs and will simplify cable management.
For bulk storage, consider 2.5" mechanical hard drives or 2.5" SSDs.

------------------------------------
Memory:
RAM modules with short heatsinks or without simplify cable management.

Q: Can I use my own riser?
A: Compatibility is only guaranteed for the LiHeat 300 mm D type risers. Other risers 30 cm in length edge to edge may physically fit but will not mount onto screws and may leave the graphics card insecurely fastened.

Q: What is the CPU cooler clearance if no graphics card is used?
A: Same as with one expansion slot. One expansion slot always remains available.

VK-5: The most compact case with SFX power supply and full size graphics card support.

Revision: 1.0
  • PSU: SFX, SFX-L
  • CPU cooler (with two expansion slots): 48 mm. Fits Wraith Stealth with shroud removed.
  • External volume (with 296 mm card): 5.7 L
  • Footprint: 190 cm^2
User Manual
Example Velka 5 build with non-modular power supply

Accessories (highly recommended):
  • (~$18+) USB 3.0 hub with ethernet
    • To completely eliminate all cables on top except for HDMI/ DisplayPort, consider plugging in a USB hub with the number of needed USB ports and an ethernet port into one of the rear USB ports.
  • (~$10+) 90 degree DisplayPort cable or adapter
    • If using DisplayPort for video output, the cable protrusion can be reduced by replacing your owned cable with a right angled cable or adding a right angled adapter to your owned cable.
  • 90 degree HDMI adapter
    • Included in package if case is bought with PCIe riser.
  • (~$7+) 90 degree Cat 6 (ethernet) cable or adapter
    • If using ethernet without a USB hub with ethernet, consider using a 90 degree cable on top to reduce the cable protrusion.

Motherboard
  • A cleaner top appearance can be achieved by matching the motherboard IO shield color to the color of the case.

Q: What case fans does the case support?
A: Velka 5 does not support case fans.

Q: Does the case support liquid cooling?
A: No.

Example setup with top 90 degree ethernet adapter, 90 degree displayport adapter, USB hub without ethernet, 27 inch monitor, wireless keyboard and mouse. USB hub shown is plugged into one of two rear USB 3.0 ports. If using a wired keyboard and mouse, USB hub can be plugged into one top USB to make rear ports available for keyboard and mouse. See "Recommended Hardware" below for more details on recommended accessories.

Expected availability: TBD

Edit: shipping outside of US and Canada will now be done on a case by case basis

Shipping outside of US and Canada is on the expensive side, but rates are likely to decrease in the future.

Very nice! Amazing value for this niche market.

Question: why limit the top exhaust fans to 15mm? I like the 4.0 L number, but neither Noctua nor be Quiet make a slim 80mm fan.

http://www.coolermaster.com/cooling/case-fan/standard-fan-80mm/

Been using it for a while. You don't get as much air pressure but other than that it's not bad actually.
Can confirm, those fans work well.

Question: why limit the top exhaust fans to 15mm? I like the 4.0 L number, but neither Noctua nor be Quiet make a slim 80mm fan.
This was a difficult decision to make, but in the end it seemed more justified to limit compatibility to slimmer fans which can be obtained for a low price point from other companies. Although this is nothing more than speculation, Noctua already makes a 15 x 92 mm, and there may be a possibility of them releasing a 15 x 80 mm fan in the future if there is a market for them.

can you do some alluminium side panels for this case?
There are currently no plans for creating aluminum side panels because of the advantages that the mesh offers, including easy tool-less maintenance and better airflow. However, if the demand is high enough, mounting points for side panels may be added in the next revision and allow people to choose between solid aluminum panels and steel mesh.

Additionally, I plan to offer users fully custom cases where customization is not limited to just side panels.

Quick update:

Some people from the EU have expressed interest in this case. If you are one of them, please either contact me privately or fill out the order form's shipping information section along with a desired delivery date so that I can find the most fitting shipping option for you. Paying 70 EUR for shipping is a lot, but you can save some money by spending a few minutes on this.
