I absolutely love the products SFFLabs has put out, currently only need the Skyreach to round off my collection. So when I heard that there was a new case coming around September-December that supports mATX in a small form factor I was chomping at the bit to preorder this bad boy.

I got especially excited when I saw mention of Threadripper being a possibility in this case, due to the gorgeous Asrock x399m Taichi. This hits every box for me, as well as watercooling capabilities. I am looking to definitely take advantage of the workstation possibilities that were highlighted, but my main question/concern is this:

The Asrock X399M Taichi requires an 8 pin AND a 4 pin EPS, while near all SFX and SFX-L power supplies only support an 8 or 4+4 pin EPS. I am most certainly not a power supply aficionado, and I just want a straight answer, how do you intend to support current or future TR4 mATX form factor motherboards?

The system I am looking to power and have budgeted for is as follows:
Mobo: Asrock X399M Taichi
CPU: Threadripper 1950X
RAM: Corsair Dom Plats 4x16GB at 3200MHz
Storage: Samsung 970 Pro 512GB (most storage will be over network)
GPU: Radeon Pro WX 9100
PSU: ???? (hopefully something that fits in this case)

As most psu has unique 12v rail, you have mainly two choices to power your 2 eps connectors :
  • Use 8 pins eps splitter
  • Convert one of your pcie plug into eps : pcie to eps adapter like akasa ak-cb051

Someone on HardForum asked for some photo comparison. Sharing it here as well.

To give a better idea on how deep it is on the desk.

The holy trinity!
Design consistency is unreal between all three.

Does the Mach One have the same Infinite Vents system from the Cerberus line? It seems that it is a staple of Chimera Industries.

Need suggestions, my motherboard (ASRock X299E-ITX) doesn’t have a 2 pin temperature sensor.

I like to get loop temperature for testing Gear 3.

Necere mentioned the Corsair Commander Pro is an LCD, feels a bit overkill.

Wanted to see if there are easier solutions. Ideally less cables the better.
