Small update : before chosing my future setup that will go inside my Cerberus-X I'll made a prototype using my mini ITX Z97 board, with core i7 4770K and GTX1070 gaming X, just to see what options (cooling, mounting point, etc) I truly have inside Cerberus-X..:D

As I want to wait for Vega 10 customs card release I will have to wait for july/august...that means simply I'll wait for X299 platform then to replace my prototype setup..:D

Well, well, as Intel has advanced x299 platform to end of may ( kabylake-x) and end of june (skylake-x), i'll definitely wait for it.

Definitely a 112w kabylake-x with no igpu and soldered ihs is captivating me as i'm focusing my cerberus-x on mainly enthousiast gaming..:) That should lead to an oc beast..:)

sure it does...and with arrival of Ryzen 5 that obliterates core i5, that should make react Intel even quicker on their next main stream generation..:)

I wouldn't use the word "obliterate", the X299 is also well above that price level anyway and clearly targeted at Ryzen 1700 and above or the HEDT equivalent that AMD is rumored to be preparing.

Well ryzen 5 is crucifying core i5 in productivity and performs similarly as core i5 while using mid range like gtx 1070...:)

Another step in my reflexion : today i've built a Ryzen 5 1600 setup for a friend...i must admit that i was positively impressed by asus prime b350m-a mb, wraith spire stock cooler (effective and quiet) and even ram support.

Why not building a top end ryzen 7 1700 setup in Cerberus-x as I'm not planning to play at 4k with higher refresh rate than 60hz?..:)

have the same asus board with a ryzen 1700 and its been a nice setup so I'd totally recommend it if your not doing dual GPU's

waiting for Intel, MSI and Gigabyte are clearly pushing AM4 plateform.

MSI has just released, what I guess is the best compromise, for AM4 mother board : MSI B350 Gaming Pro Carbon
https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/B350-GAMING-PRO-CARBON.html#productSpecification-section
  • B350 chipset, OC with one GPU (perfect for those who are not interested in multi gpu)
  • Plenty of VRM to power cpu
  • Intel LAN chipset (great!)
  • Sound by ALC 1220 (greatt!)
  • true pci-e extension slots (not legacy pci port like tomahawk)
  • Led tuning (ok for those interested in)
  • DDR4 3200 extensive compatibility
  • Control DC & PWM fans
  • price : 135$

Clearly one of the best...or simply AM4 board...:)
