I looked at the picture but I just don't get what you're saying.

Is this right?

Yep. That is (to the best of my knowledge) correct.

Although it might be next month before I bite.

Which mean it might be next year before you build. I feel like there's a healthy amount of buzz around these things. Hopefully they're amping up production, but the 300W were hard to catch in stock. 400W just increases the pool of people interested in them.

Will the new HDplex have an increased amp on the 12v line? Be great if it could go to 30-35A

I'm not sure what it will be exactly, but the 12V will definitely increase in max amperage on the new unit compared to the 300W.

Mailed Larry about preorder openings and he said it should be "Around next wednesday".
Will he ever bring the HDPLEX-400 back after the first batch sells out? I hate that the 300 isnt in stock anymore lol... i kinda feel for those who are waiting to build S4 minis or other systems... and what about us ALREADY WITH HDPLEX-300 who want to upgrade to a 400? What if i want to move up to a 400 later next year? :(

I asked back in april when the hdplex 300w would be back in stock. They said they'd have more in May.

Now it's June and still no stock, but it's any day now to preorder a 400w variant (which does look pretty slick...). Any word on how long fulfillment will take after the preorder? I'm hesistant to preorder if it's going to take several months.

Some said before he promised a mid june shipping, but it seems like its gonna be a bit later judging by current preorder delays. Might wanna email him at info@hd-plex.com

The promised release was originally May because Larry was just planning to do another batch of the 300W units. Given the fact that development had already been done on unit, this was a realistic goal. The reason he decided to go with the redesign and wattage increase was to specifically address the coil whine complaints he'd received as well as to further optimize layout. While I know that waiting sucks, you lot are going to undoubtably get a better product that makes fewer compromises for the few extra weeks it took.

Plus while Larry is very helpful, doing RMAs really eats into the bottom line for a small company like HDPLEX.

So if a non-insignificant amount of people are complaining about coil whine it probably was in his financial best interest to address it sooner rather than later.

Well I just bought a 330W dell brick off ebay, so i guess I'm committed to the hdplex now lol. Hope it isn't too lengthy of a wait (although the power brick will take a while to get here so I've got some time I guess). The new 400W model does look pretty slick!

For those interested in a 330W brick there are some on ebay for 43.99 USD with free international shipping. Seems like a good price, if a bit of a long wait. Not sure if it's allowed to post a link or not...

It's just your normal C14 connector. So any PC power cord that isn't stupidly thin should be okay.

Honestly you'll probably find more results on Amazon or whatever just searching for "computer power cord".

But to be technical, that plug is called an IEC 60320 C14 connector.

Cool, this is one I bought if anyone is interested: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/132063325979

All comes from the same place anyway (presumably). Any recommendations on where to get a power cord/what to search for appreciated.

Here's the one I bought for a little more if anyone cares about it being an OEM Dell product: http://www.ebay.com/itm/192119182682

It's still used, but it does convey with a 90 day warranty and includes power cord. I've been waiting that about that long for HDPlex to come back in stock so I can't really comment on quality, but it's an OEM pull from a working system so finger's crossed.

It is somewhat astounding to me that the Dell brick seems to be the only real option for these things. Hard to find another vendor for a possible alternative. Seems like if Silverstone can fit 800 watt of passively cooled AC-DC then some other player could make a stronger brick with a better connector. Or at least an alternative to the Dell that doesn't cost ~$120 new.

there is another option you can do the HP voodoo brick which is 350w. It is bigger though so yeah.
