european and the company is named after the founder
This was hard to identify, but I think it is a 1957 to 1961 Borgward Goliath 1100 (later the Hansa 1100).

I promise that I did not use AI to find this. I searched Google for "defunct 1950s eponymous European car maker" and "defunct 1960s eponymous European car maker" and checked every manufacturer models to find it. Granted I am in the US and have never heard of this brand. This page found that unique front grill:

I think those (door-mounted?) turn indicators were possibly added on to the vehicle by an owner, since none of the stock photos I have viewed have those turn indicators.

Interesting fact: The Goliath 1100 motor is a 1094cc, water-cooled, 4-cylinder boxer (horizontally opposed) engine that powered the Goliath 1100 and Hansa 1100 cars from 1957-1961, known for its advanced design and quiet operation, and notably serving as a design precursor to Subaru's famous boxer engines.

Apologies for not guessing again, the holiday period in retail is hectic. That, and the time I've been spending implementing Cloudflare, etc because some asshat keeps trying to DDOS us :|

The only supercar manufacturer that has links to NZ is Mclaren, but I can't see the above car from them.. Will give it another look after work :)
