Wait is it a Cutlass!??

::EDIT:: That's my final answer, if it's not a Cutlass of some description (Supreme? Coupe? something or other) I'm giving up on this one haha

Oh thank god, I was starting to doubt myself after having been so confident of the last couple of guesses!

Without doing any googling and knowing you it's either a Plymouth or trans am of some kind
It's actually NOT directly related to the previous car. I went based on front grille looks haha although this particular one has a different pattern than the one I originally thought of.
What a magnaficent mystery car!
You cheeky bugger. I guess this counts as getting it!
mitsubishi carisma by any chance?
It is a Mitsubishi - it wasn't known as a Carisma here but definitely seems to be a close relative.
It's possible this is an Oceania special -- it's a Mitsubishi MAGNA as noted by @confusis above

::EDIT::

I think they were actually quite handsome cars of the era, the front gives BMW E46 and the back added some Aussie and Japanese flavouring

@SFFMunkee the Magnaficent bit was supposed to be a hint for others, but alas, I must take my turn;

I have a feeling I know what this is... were they perhaps made in a suburb of Wellington known for its car industry... where perhaps the Magna was also made (assembled?)
I'll leave this for someone else :)
