Based on? I'd be keen to see the source of the 44mm, given that the EVGA forum post was from an EVGA employee.
Hes not wrong, but the information is confusing because its irrelevant. The backplate is 4.2mm, but the XC3 coolers still protrude from underneath the metal plate (40mm) by 4-5mm. Look at the metal slots photos on evga website. Its also why they list it as a 2.2 slot card.

I get what you're saying, but I still can't find any source for 44mm - and how do you know the backplate is 4.2mm or that the metal plate is 40mm?

Based on what Dan said:

Slot sizes are mostly including the back plate.

A normal 2 Slot card is 2*19,75 = 39,5mm (inlcuding the back plate)
A 2.2 Slot card is 2,2*19,75 = 43,45

So I think the new 2.2 Slot EVGA RTX XC3 will fit.

I'm a bit confused.

No point in arguing about it, it's all guess work. get your black edition, stick it in, see if there's a few mm available behind the gpu and let us know.

At the moment I have a Ryzen 5 3600 in it and the cooling is just a bunch of Noctua fans. I’m afraid it’s nothing fancy like water cooled etc!
FYI, at the mo it’s running a RX 5700XT.

Hi Nigel,

I'm really curious about your results and thank you for pioneering here. In general, I'm still concerned a little about the power consumption of the 3080's. So what kind of PSU do you have in your build?

Regards,
Paul

I've seen that post and the dude who wrote it is wrong :)

Not sure why you say that

Dan who created the case.. has the CAD which shows every bit of measurment.

The absolute clearance is 47mm with the backplate. 42 above PCB / 5mm back plate.

Based on EVGA (https://forums.evga.com/Introducing...ith-iCX3-Technology-m3072847-p11.aspx#3073427)

Thickness of the 3090/3080 XC3 models with backplate (XC3 Ultra/XC3) is 1.78in. - 45.1mm.
Thickness of the 3090/3080 XC3 models without backplate (XC3 Black) is 1.61in. - 40.9mm.

Based on the measurement, all variance of xc3 should fit. could be a tight fit but it should.

But good luck to those who was able to grab one.. i tried.. but didnt succeed :(

Hi Paul,

I have a Corsair CP-9020186-UK SF750 80 Plus Platinum Certified Power Supply installed in my Dan Case A4.

I'm not sure of the ETA on my 3080 as OCUK have made a mess of ordering and I'm on a waiting list.
