Very specifically the P8Z77-I.

Was pondering throwing it on the bay, but if it goes to a good home here(conusa) what's your pain level? Might keep the Noctua but everything else like i3770K and 2x8gb Gskill goes, hasn't been used in awhile except to boot the Linux I threw on the drive to make sure it's working. PM if you want.

You will certainly have a better outcome there, @Stevo_, due to my cheap bastardness lmao. I appreciate the good looks though. :)

Started collecting parts for the next build. It’s going be a loooong collection period, thinking spring time. Ncase v6.1 ordered and managed to find a Swiftech Apogee Drive II to use in my first attempt on watercooling when the time comes. Still undecided on specs, but it’s gonna be watercooled and for the first time ever Noctuas are going black. Target is as silent, efficient and fast as possible (funds permitting).

Just started planning for a new custom build and while researching I found some specialist components that were too cheap to pass up,
  • ASUS PIO-B150M a uDTX motherboard (£53 from China)
  • 2 x VLP ADATA DDR4 8GB 2666MHz sticks (£50 from the UK)
I plan to pair with a 7700T, 1050ti and HD plex 200W A/C & D/C combo that I already have (I may upgrade to a 1650 or another 75W GPU) in a custom fully passive "flat" case.

Super happy that for just over a £100 ($130 usd) outlay I can finally build a super slim passive travel PC. (Mock-up below)

Been busy for the past few weeks on a side project to practice my C programming skills on. It's a program to view 3D models and it reads several 3D file formats and planning to add some more. It's still in the early stages, simply loading a file from the command line and a viewport of the model spinning in place. Right now I'm focusing on the code that imports models. It can already load .STL models with ease and up to a few hundred megabytes large.

I want it to be something like GLC Player but with an interface that is more useful to artists and not just CAD/technical modeling to show previews of the models with different shaders, post processing effects and backdrops.

Nice, but why C for a 3D models viewer? I was quite familiar with C, but from what I remember, nowadays there are more modern programing languages that can help you to doing 3D works with great windows (or x-windows) library supports.

(OK my admittedly my C knowledge is a bit old.. imagine Borland C 3.1 - 5.x era)

Yeah, Borland/Turbo era C is too old to make a fair comparison to the language today. New C standards were set in 1999 and 2011, and new projects rarely use '89 and '90 C standards. OpenGL was very young back then, but it's matured a lot, and still a popular API in C despite also ported to other languages. I'm using GLFW and GTK3 both modern toolkits to make windows and handle window events, written in C. (GTK lets you make complete GNOME interfaces too)

GLFW as the advantage of being Windows, Linux and MacOS compatible. Been using it when I played with Vulkan API. I too started C, and then C++, with Borland Turbo C(++) on DOS. At univ, my major was 3D engine programming using the freshly released openGL .... 1.4 .... Makes me feel old now ...

So the AMD Radeon 5600XT arrives in South East Asia. Retail price is around 318 USD. Not sure about the dimension.

Don't ask me to purchase & review. Let somebody richer than me do it :)

I finally decided to do an all-AMD build of which I have started accumulating parts for. I cannot believe the cost of X570 boards. Throwing a 3600 in one doesn't make any bloody sense, but I really just can't be bothered with lower end boards.

You know that's the only reason I didn't go with 3rd gen Ryzen - they sort of ruin the value proposition.

Today I finally received my wedding suit after the original Tailor on Etsy went AWOL after I made my first 2 of 3 $400 payments - but I did also get confirmation from Etsy that they will be refunding me so all a happy ending in the end and means I can finally put down my Photographer deposit - did you guys know Weddings were expensive? I feel like people tell you that but nothing prepares you for the cost until you're actually doing it...

Later today I will be purchasing my Velka 5 so I can go from the ol' "PC parts sitting on a motherboard box" to an actual PC again XD

Continuing work on my 3D model viewer software. It doesn't look like much (just a window with a 3D viewport) but it already supports importing STL binary and ASCII files, certain OBJ files, and making progress on PLY which I could probably get done by the end of today. Supports drag and drop to load in model files, camera pan and rotate movement and custom shaders too. I want to also add drag and drop to shaders so you can make changes on the fly. Here it is having loaded one of my old unused case models.

It is simple but very fast at loading most models. It also handled loading some very large models (in hundreds of megabytes of size) that made my copy of Blender either freeze or crash. All of the building/testing is on Linux but since it uses GLFW to handle windowing and input, porting to Windows and Mac should be easy.
