You should just tell us all... :)-_-;) If not, you should give us a tease.
I am now thoroughly convinced that HeroXLazer is a "rip-off" artist trolling our forum stealing all the wonderful ideas here, giving them life, and pumping them out of a factory somewhere! BTW: Where is the link to your products page?! LOL :-p

Only joking; I appreciate your curiosity.

I have been descending deeper and deeper into shopping for a new keyboard. Everything I search for is either unavailable, on Taobao, or an unjustifiable (read unaffordable) purchase. DIY kits don't offer much of a price break just customization/programmability.

The only takeaway of benefit is I am distracted from my current build's parts arrival trickle.

The last week I caved and bought an X99M motherboard (got a gut feeling the prices will stick when ZEN gets released. also couldn't stop thinking about it). Thought to bring it my brother's house to borrow a DDR4 stick from his system to test the board (didn't get mine yet because DDR4 prices are cray cray now). Was using the heatsink and the 1060 meant for my next build on my current P55 system and I had to bring those too. Decided to plug the previous intel cooler and 750 back in and hope it'll last till (hopefully again) March.

Nope. Idles at 60c. Chrome heated the CPU to 90c. Maya caused the system to stutter when the cameras or viewports moved. Nopenopenope
(admittedly while doing what the next sentence says, I found out I didn't put enough thermal compound, but yeah nope forget it)

So today I put the heatsink and the 1060 back into the current one. Now on to spend the rest of the sunlight day on an octopus.

What are you looking for?

After a few days of research I started looking at the Magicforce 68 or Tada 68. Whittling down to 68 keys seems to be an achievable learning curve. Ended up deciding the Tada68 would be easier due to programmability and not much more than the Magicforce with a keycap mod.

Reached out to a couple people with units on r/mechmarket and just waiting for responses back...

Ninja edit: Tada68 with Gateron Blacks and stock caps inbound...so much for being distracted waiting for parts in the mail.

What's your favorite type of switch? I love clicky switches, I got in on the Fosen group buy, and I can't wait.

I'm a tactile kind of guy. I can make do with Browns, and prefer Gateron over Cherry in that regard, but with them being so light I nearly always bottom out. Next ones are going to be Gateron Greens and I've tried those on multiple boards at a meetup and they might just be my favourite switch.

Good choice! Not personally a fan of linear switches, but whatever floats your boat.

Switch selection was dictated less by preference and more by market availability. Being unavilable stateside brand new the second hand market had no browns offered. One of these days I will desire an item enough to navigate my way through a Tabao proxy.

I love linear switches! So smooth and easy to glide over when typing.

This will be my first Gateron/linear switch and everything I have been reading is positive so I am looking forward to trying them out.

I would have preferred a tactile switch (MX browns are what I have used in the past) but if these don't work out I felt the TADA 68 was a great platform to build off of.

Don't want to start a switch war on SFF so I will finish this off by saying today was the first time I listened to a 6 hour MK live stream/podcast.

You just have to stick with it, learning a CAD program and proper case design is a long-term project, not an overnight event unfortunately.

Aye, just so many hard things for me to worry about. Like panel thickness for different materials, standoff points, metal folding compatibility, and button spaces.

Practice, practice, practice! There really isn't a shortcut, you just have to keep at it.
