Unfortunately myne is turning into a pretty painful build...
First psu didn't work so had to get a replacement.
Had to overpay for a gpu having ordered one at a decent price that the company failed to deliver on.
And now I've finally got my gpu and psu it seems the riser isn't working.
I made very sure everything was inserted according to the arrows and have tried a silly number of times now hoping it would suddenly just work.
On the plus side it works without the riser and I guess a faulty riser is better than a faulty gpu.

Hello, Bichael.

Do you have an ASRock Motherboard?

Go into the UEFI, navigate to PCIE Link Speed, and set it from Auto to Gen 2. Remember I am just an email away for technical support. You don't need to slog through on your own. <3

Is there any stand solutions anyone found to keep the S4M in a vertical position?

It should stand on its own. I used to take these to LAN events all the time with crappy plastic fold up tables that moved everytime people moved their wrists and I never have knocked on over. If you have cats or something you could reuse the wrap-over screw mounts and have a bolt down plate. I can fab one if you email me.

Peace

Just installed Windows 10 onto my build. Debating if I should turn this into Hackintosh or not, but will run a few games to test it's resilience first. The build is whisper quiet in idle right now.

MB: ASrock Z370 Fatal1ty mITX
CPU: i7-8700k
CPU Fan: Noctua NH-L9i
GPU: Gigabyte GTX-1080 Mini (Removed from AORUS Gaming Box)
Ram: 16GB DDR4
Power: HD-PLEX 400W + 330W Dell Brick
SSD: Samsung 960 Pro
Curious to know your temps. Please share them when you have a chance! Thanks!

The only board with thunderbolt, did you get a chance to test the GPU external performance before removing it?

Possible to do something like this? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00H3S1B5A/?tag=theminutiae-20

Going to have to be after next week, business taxes due this coming Thursday and that's pretty much all I'm working on all week. Planning to use FFXV for the test.

I didn't, it still uses the same JHL6240 low-power TB3 controller as the z270 version of the board so it actually only supports a 20gbps line in a single direction. It'll do pretty well with a GTX 1060 or lower but I wouldn't use it with a 1070 or higher. Also at that point you might as well just get the Cerberus case since it'll house everything in one go and is quite small.

On a side note, reading through the manual... ASrock actually notes that the 16x PCI-E lane in the fatality mITX board supports bifurcation (splitting a 16x into two 8x lanes). Now I'm curious if anyone has tried that for a S4M build. @Josh | NFC ?

I know that someone used that feature in a build for the S4M-C, but AFAIK, no one has done it for the S4M.

I've been too busy to post recently but I'm glad others have found success using my bios settings. This is still a great community!
Ceski,
I've been using your settings and getting some good results, but I have been wondering if these values can be tweaked for further improvement specifically for MY system?

For the people doing the Brick-less builds... what combination of power supplies are you using? I noticed the plug connector with the hd-plex ones are too big to put into the S4M case.

@napptr

The Dynamo 160 is capable of 200w peak. To power your specific build in the S4 you need just two parts.

1 dynamo 160 direct plug unit

1 source if power. Either an external brick such as the Dell 240w or 300w OR the HDPlex 160w ac-dc to go brickless. The HDPlex requires a power plug mod to make it pretty.

First pic is the HDPlex 160w AC-DC installed. This is how it comes stock so notice the power connector is not a drop in for the S4. However you can get it up and running without any mods as shown below.

Second pic notice the 160 direct plug unit installed on the mobo.

This set up runs a Ryzen 1600 and EVGA 1050ti with no issues for me.

Just ordered! Was going back and forth between designing my own case or purchasing the Skyreach. In the end there is just no way I can match the finish and build quality that I have seen of the Skyreach for less.

Looking forward to receiving it so I can fit my two xbox one s power supplies inside! Just need to find a non polarized C8 connector now....

Edit: Believe I have found one! Just wish it was not in a package of 5...

Looking forward to seeing how you work out the power set up in you S4 @Zackmd1 . Having a few spare connectors can't be all bad right?!

I'm thinking of using a C6 aka Mickey Mouse connector since it has the ground. I realize that some modification of the S4 may be required. comes in a pack of 11 with prime shipping or just one at half as much and like 7-10 days shipping.

Extra never hurts! Since the Xbox One S PSU already was wired for a non polarized I figured I should just stick with the same connector.

The PSUs will be a tight fit and may require custom 3D printed housings but I am confident I can get them installed!

Doing a 2nd S4M build now since I noticed ASrock came out with a mITX board with 3 HDMI outs onboard and 2 ethernet sockets. It's like they literally heard my prayers for a broadcasting board.

New Parts List:
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/tJrvV6

Watt usage shows a maximum of 159W with just the i7-8700k. It doesn't consider my Magewell capture card. Though it doesn't have a power socket I think the onboard PCI-E power may be enough. Think the HDPlex 60/ KMPKT Dynamo + 160W AC-DC HDPlex is enough? Or is there some way to fit the larger the 300W AC-DC into there?

Also if I mod it with the C8, does it matter which wire connects to which side? Also, the ground cable... would I just leave it dangling?

Hello, I am new here and just purchased a skyreach S4 mini.

I was discouraged by the price of GPU's and so I'm foregoing a graphics card for now.

Mobo : Asrock Fatal1ty X370 Gaming-ITX/ac ( Changed from Rog Strix )
APU: AMD Ryzen 3 2200G
RAM: Gskill Trident Z RGB DDR4 2x8GB 3600
Storage: Samsung M.2 960 Evo 256GB
Cooling: Noctua NH-L9a
DC: HDplex 400W
AC/DC: HDplex 160W power supply

The plan is to overclock and ride this setup until the new Ryzen 2 Cpu's release and gpu prices come down or go on sale later this year.

My question is, will I run into any issues OC'ing the apu with the HDplex 160w power supply?

Thanks in advance
