As I have pre-ordered an S4-R3, can I confirm: I will be able to use an HD-Plex 400W, no mod necessary? Also, Josh, is it possible to have a non acrylic, wrap around bezel that will accommodate the upcoming 1080Ti mini? I like the original case design, but I want to embarrass my friends with both uncompromised performance AND aesthetic.

There is no modding necessary for the HDPLEX 400.

It isn't possible to have a wrap around bezel and an extra 7mm interior space, so you will need to plan for something else. You could drop some big bucks and have a front bezel milled and finished out of the material of your choice. :)

Like @Josh | NFC said without any mods at all its not possible to fit a 1080 or 1080ti mini in the S4 Mini.

But it might be worth pointing out that if the 1080ti Mini's heatsink ends up being the same length as the one on the 1080 mini then you could probably do like @DocH did (here) and take just the fan shroud off and then it should just barely fit.

Summer is coming... and it was getting to hot were I live for my GTX 1070 so I decided to remove the bezel. Then I used the PDF/EPS from Josh but enlarged it a little bit to cover the holes and created a STL which you can download here.

It looks better in real life: it has a vivid red color instead of the "orangish" from the pictures.

Advantages of a 3d printed ventilation plate: very cheap, fast to print, easy to mod and different filament colors (or spray it afterwards). In addition to this it's possible to have a "carved" design to fit longer cards like the Zotac 1080 mini (I remember that with the long bezel was not so easy to do in one piece with acrylic).

I am currently thinking about designing something to cover the two screw holes next to to the power switch.

Ideas are welcome!

I'm totally satisfied with my 7700k/1080mini S4 Mini's performance and portability at this time (i haul it to and from work every day (so much so that I might even buy a SECOND Dell-330W power brick, just to minimize having to carry it around too). And I am SUPER hyped for the x299 Mini-ITX boards and Sky-X and Kaby-X chips... not salty at ALL to lose the "top performing S4 Mini" build bragging rights in the future, lol. If you future S4 Mini owners (or current ones can who will upgrade) will have your builds to fit a 1080 "Ti" Mini, and a HUGE 6-8-10-12 Core Intel x299 CPU in there, by all means do it, but let's also keep our hype realistic, fellas.Okay, so X299 Mini ITX boards seem to exist. But we all need to remember some VERY IMPORTANT FACTS, these motherboards are going to be running Skylake-X and KabyLake-X CPUs in socket LGA2066 ... which all are over 112-140 Watt TDP...

We already have temperature issues with the 91W 7700k and 6700k (unless we delid it AND spend $$ to Frankenstein an LP53 and NF-A9x14PWM fan to fit in an S4 Mini) ... So a Kabylake-X CPU like the 4C/8T 7740k (which is the lowest they have) is NOT going to be able to be cooled decently inside an S4 mini unless we get a better CPU HSF thats under 47mm along with a better fan too... OH and have we even SEEN any LGA 2066 CPU HSF's that are under 47mm? Or at least mounting options for our current Mini-ITX coolers like the NHL9i or LP53 that work for LGA2066?...

But there's hope: something that MIGHT helps is if we decide to DELID a Skylake-X or Kabylake-X chip (which seems to be possible) but without a proper CPU HSF solution, delidding an LGA2066 CPU STILL might not be enough to cool a 112 or 140watt TDP chip inside an S4 Mini. :(

And lets not forget that these x299 ITX mobos will probably all be dunning DDR4 So-DIMMS, lol.
AND these x299 CPUs have no integrated graphics, so we're giving that up as well.

So guys, let's be hyped for the availability of these amazingly compact x299 Socket 2066 Mini-iTX mobo's, BUT... let's keep expectations real.

Yeah as soon as I saw the TDP on these chips, I got a little dissapointed. But really, I have no idea what I would use the extra throughput for. A standard (hopefully Coffee Lake) i7 in my upcoming build should meet more than my needs.

Do we actually know if the 1080ti mini will be the same length as the 1080 though? There was a Zotac 1070 mini was 8,27" long vs 8.31 of the 1080, for all we know the 1080ti mini could be as small or smaller than the 1070.

Edit: By the way, as of this writing, NewEgg has some open box Zotac 1080 minis for $450, sounds like a nice price to me: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814500414R

Woah i just realised that this is your build bro! AWESOME! So you went back and got the 7mm 2D bezel and the frosted vent cover! :D Did you ever make a build thread? It's hard to remember builds without a thread, you got a 1080 in there, right? :) Youve got the door stoppers as feet right? ;)

Hmmm... this is interesting news, I'm hype to find out the final size and dimensions of the 1080ti mini.

And HOLY CRAP, seeing that open box price of $450, dang... I paid like $420 for my 1070 back a year ago... and then I paid an early adopter premium of $720 for my 1080 mini from Amazon... lol. Oh well, it's how life is when there's always going to be a Ti variant out eventually. I cringe every time i see a 1080 mini price drop... but at least I'm actually SATISFIED with my 1080 mini's performance, its a beast at +200 core and 11GBps Memory OC, and that silent BIOS mod really makes the whole system's quiet sound profile perfect, and it eases my wallet's retrospective cries. XD

No I didn't do a build log lol. Repping S4 #140.

I have a I5 6600K, and a 1070, 1TB Crucial SSD, 512GB m.2, and 16 GB of G.Skill Trident!
I'm ordering custom cables from "someone" *cough* @royalba94 *cough*. Then I'll upload build photos and everything else.

ALSO!!!!!
With the door stopper feet you can put the Wi-Fi antenna box that ASRock makes under the case so it doesn't restrict airflow to the CPU, and won't get in the way of cables like regular antenna.

I'll add a picture of what I'm describing later.

The case itself, being metal, will attenuate your wifi signal pretty badly if you put the antenna underneath. I'm not a fan of that ASRock antenna style. You can get some normal-type wifi antennae that work with ASRock for a couple bucks if you have any trouble with that one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00VHDXSSU/?tag=theminutiae-20

Glad I'm not the only one with big monitor small case syndrome ;)

IMO the acer predator x34 pairs VERY romantically with the s4 mini. When big and small come together in the most interracial way. Its one of the reasons I am getting the s4 mini. Such a wonderful contrast.

That is a beautiful setup and S4 Mini! I like the 2TB Firecuda, its an AMAZING 2.5inch SSHD, load times in games are basically SSD-like on that thing. :)

Question, which # was your S4 Mini?

Does anyone know if G.Skill Ripjaws V ram fits in the Mini? From what I was able to find it is supposed to be too tall to fit in the Mini, but when I look at my NH-L9i and the ram together in my current build they are the same height.

https://smallformfactor.net/forum/threads/nfc-systems-s4-mini.96/page-122#post-39183

Looking at that build it would fit, but I just want to make sure it does before I go and buy some new ram.
