I'm hopeful for a decent sized GPU block, but would kill for one that isn't infested with RGB herpes!

Nice. I knew it wasn't very long but I was expecting it to be taller, 127mm is not bad at all.
rebember there's still the pci slot height as well. that should add around 15mm to 20mm total height, if not a bit more

A comparative review of 4 3080s.
Asus TUF, Colorful, Galax and MSI Gaming Trio.
Use a translator if needed. But the tables are self explanatory.
And, it is good to look at those various cooling solutions...so beefy

This is the card for 2 slots cases like DAN or Ghost! BLOWER IS THE WAY! ?
Not only dual slot and a blower, it measures only 266.7 x 111.16 x 39.8 mm.
So short, so skinny (and so noisy?)

The Cerberus crews will be happy! And many many people for which the noise is not Important! I am curious about the thermal! My titan V is not super happy with the blower cooler!

In your neck of the woods, how much markup does your local retailer apply to a 3080?

I hop down to a local mall to check on 3080 prices. Saw Asus TUF, Galax and Gigabyte ones available but the prices are jacked up about 37-39% from MSRP. Well, one can explain this is supply-and-demand of capitalism but I say, it reflects the greed just as well.

I am waiting for a 3070. Anyone else?

I would like a 3080 or 3090, but I dont really need one urgently now. I have a 2080ti FTW3 with an i7 8086. Software I am using runs ok on the hardware I have. Games i have run ok too. My main limitation is the ping to the external servers, as I have to use a vm for my work on a vpn and on that vm I have a second vm for specialist software etc.

So I will be waiting until the new year for a graphics card / cpu update if even then . ..

Moore's Law is looking more right by the day. I was thinking about buying Ampere....then this BS...I'm good for a while, we'll see how good RDNA2 is.

How about we skip these unbuyable products and go straight to Ryzen4000 already ?

Hmmmm...is that an oxymoron?
I mean, if RDNA2 is good in performance, then its price will be jacked up just like the current 3080, and this is not good for the consumer. If it is not good, then consumers will 'get stuck' with the 3000 series and this is not good.

Years ago, Nvidia and AMD were both fined by EU court about under table price fixing. I like to see them to compete in price and not just in performance. It is good that early rumor about Intel's upcoming discrete card is quite promising. Intel Xe, please come soon.

BTW, 3090 is supposed to come out tomorrow (24th Sept)? Right?

Maybe, maybe not. According to Moore's law, NVidia always planned to not sell many cards at MSRP and for people to buy at scarcity pricing to even get AIB cards. That combined with bots buying the entire first shipment did everyone else in.

Yea 3090 'comes out' tomorrow...in the sense no one will be able to by it except from scalpers...

I recent rumor from VideoCardz hints at a release of a 180W 3060Ti by the end of October. Given the TDP of this guy, the 3060ti may be a perfect candidate for some single fan, ITX cards.

MSI has proven that it can adequately and relatively quietly cool 180 to 200 watts with a single fan and 2 slots. The 3060ti should provide 2070 Super level performance, if not better. I think this will be the go-to.

The Asus Dual Mini RTX 3070 is slated to be released October 15th according to Videocardz, hopefully by mid November there will be some decent stock of these cards in stores.

I wonder what the length on that will be. The 2060 was 197mm....which is 7mm too much for my case.
