I prefer PEM nuts like these:

But 2mm aluminum is thick enough to tap the sheet directly. I just don't like relying on aluminum threads.

Very awesome! How's the thermals? Is that a flex atx psu in the front?

And here's a 5x spedup timelapse of the CAD modeling process:

I see you use SpaceClaim. I have to say that the interface looks quite clean, which makes me interested. Is this the 3D modelling software you enjoy the best when designing cases? Or how did you end up with it? I assume it costs a fortune as well. :)

Not sure on thermals yet. That's the FSP FSP500-50FSPT at the front until the 300W AC-DC from HDPLEX is out.

I picked SpaceClaim primarily because it has a workflow similar to SketchUp and has native import/export for SketchUp files. Looking back I probably would have gone for Solid Edge for its hybrid direct/parametric modeling but oh well.

I got the base package for $2700 in an end of year special discount. Not cheap, but half the price of SolidWorks.

What clearance is there for the bottom fan with the 1050 Ti…?

Are those the Noctua NF-A9x14s down below…?

Thoughts towards pulling the shroud & fans from the LP GPU & fitting dual Noctua NF-A9s (the "full-size" 25mm thick ones) below getting their PWM feed from the GPU itself…?

I like the chassis; small in size but offers a lot of cooling potential… What is the max dims for top-mounted fans…? Slims, or will 25mm fans fit…?

Thanks…!

If you look closely, that's what he did. Only he used the 14mm fans as the 25mm ones won't fit in there.

The gpu doesn't output a PWM signal either, it has a 2-pin DC fan header :)

Right, I removed the stock fans on the MSI GTX 1050 Ti LP and plugged the two Noctua into the motherboard.

At top there's only room for slim fans.

So do you think that you will have a run of these bad boys to sell or just working on a custom box for your on the go rig? The LP gpu doesn't bother me in the slightest and the extra cpu cooler clearance is nice for keeping noise down on less powerful procs even.

Also, I would totally buy the handle alone for my own cases!

Would it be possible to attach the fans to the GPU itself, thereby having the (bottom) fans controlled by same…?

This case really appeals to me because of the ability to have Intake & Exhaust fans in such a small chassis…!

I was really feeling the Spartan Jr. there, but dunno if that is gonna go into any kind of production…?

Of course; the Firewolfy MI-6, the Hutzy XS, & the CustomMOD SFX are all appealing; but they do not offer intake/exhaust fans…!

I can live with the lower power of the GTX 1050 Ti LP; my main gaming is WoW, so there is that…

I just LOVE these small chassis creations…!!!

There will 3 extra available in a few weeks. They take the same handle as Cerberus but I didn't order any with this run so I'll have to check if any spares are leftover from the Cerberus pre-production run.

Yes, though I'd recommend a GPU with a PWM header if possible for better control.

I don't really think having both intake and exhaust is that important on a case this small. With adequate intake the case will be positive pressure.

I've quit using exhaust fans on my various Cerberus configurations for that exact reason.

I would see the bottom fans, if attached to the GPU, as more of the dedicated GPU fans; but I acknowledge that they would also provide an intake of air to the chassis. But I would still want to implement the top fans for exhaust. Add in a Noctua NH-L9x65 CPU cooler & that should be more than enough to keep an Intel i5 7600 CPU (simple gaming rig) or an AMD R7 1700 (compact 'low wattage' CPU-oriented workstation) nice & cool, AND quiet; as well as providing cooling to the HDPlex PSU components.

Now I guess I need to email the various GTX 1050 Ti manufacturers in regards to their respective fan headers!

<<< Emails sent to Gigabyte & Zotac >>>

An aside; any info towards the availability of the 300w AC-DC unit?

@Aibohphobia - I would be interested in getting one of these chassis, would you please PM me with additional info regarding same?

Thanks!

i know that the Prodigy is big IMHO, but that really shows what a travesty of an ITX case it is XD.
I didn't realise that a Jolokia was going to break cover so soon, it looks amazing. Props to Aibo and Kimera Industries!

Being a keen LAN player, I'd like to see it with a handle for good measure.

I had quite forgotten where you were going with it until your recent post with the pic, I'm deeply impressed.
Just as I was feeling sad that @Necere's Sidearm had been mothballed, I have seen a really great upright case from you.

Interesting to see that you had a number made up at the same time; I know that one off costs are large and having a batch really helps.
In my old job, I used to sell specialist camera kit, and one of the guys in the USA had metal parts made by local aerospace contractors.
He designed a 5x4" camera in his head, put into his CAD setup, and worked on it for months.
When it came to making the initial prototype, he was so sure of his dimensions and the manufacturers that he ordered 50 units, rather than one!
It worked perfectly, and saved him a lot of money; having taken that risk. IIRC, 50 only cost something like 5 times the cost of the one off

I can in a few weeks once logistics are worked out.

Yeah, getting one of anything made using production methods (so not hand-made) is not worthwhile. Might as well get a batch out of it.
