I have been looking around and so far I have not seen any low profile cooler that have been tested hands-on with an OC of 5.0 with the 8700k.

Is this possible to achieve?? I am running a 8700k delided - z370i strix - @5.0 @1.34v with a custom AIO 120.

Gaming then I see 65c with 20c ambient.

I am looking for a low-profile cooler that is no more than 66mm tall. So far I have not see any results with an OC of 5.0.

What options do I have? I have a Noctua l12s but that is 70mm so ita too tall. Could the Big Shuriken v2 hold an OC of 5.0?

Anyone with some actual experience with this?

As a matter of fact it can, https://valid.x86.fr/22gzai

I am using a Scythe Big Shuriken 2 with a Prolimatech 140mm fan on my delidded 8700k. I was playing Rise of the Tomb Raider the other day and max single core temp I got was 68C, that is with a 20C ambient. I usually run it at 4.50 GHz but I had it raised to 5.0 GHz for some benchmarks.

Is the 20C air conditioned temp or is it natural (ie non air conditioned)?

I will get my hands on a Silvertone AR11 cpu cooler now and I will run some tests and see how it goes.

Apparently it runs better than the noctua n9x65. I still doubt that it can cool a 8700k @5.0.

I don't see how it can physically run better than the L9x65. The Noctua has 4 heat pipes that extend further away from the cooler, so that more the fins are more in contact with the heatpipes. It also has more surface area because it is taller.
