Is the bottom picture a thermal adhesive pad?

120W from the socket, but they've now engineered the board to provide a special header to power the auxiliary power connector on the MXM board allowing up to a 1080 (and maybe even 1080ti eventually). The Z270 board with a 1080 ships with a 285W FSP brick at present.

Can this motherboard be purchased anywhere online, or do you have to go straight to the manufacturer? I'm interested in the finished case (preferably with front I/O accessibility slots) as well. Great job crafting such a tiny housing for such a powerful system!

It's not been released yet. AsRock will sell it directly to case developers and manufacturers, but not the general public unfortunately.

AsRock will probably release the system in Q3 or Q4 2017 would be my guess

That date is from the original announcement. ASRock has made some changes to allow use of the MXM GTX 1070 and 1080 so the release date has likely been pushed back.

It's a shame ASRockj won't release it to the public, because their case for it is much bigger than it needs to be at 2.7L. You're paying a hefty premium for MXM so you want as tiny an enclosure as possible, like CustomMOD's or I imagine Silverstone would have released one too. They may still make one and sell it as a whole system, I hope under 1.5L. I guess MXM cards are also not widely available to regular consumers, so that's probably why they decided to go full custom-built.

Today I ordered GTX 1070 MXM. We will test it with new copper radiator 130x80x20 and two 65mm fan connected via 5pin pwm connector on MB (rpm can be temperature-dependent).

73 open air worries me a bit TBH
Yes, not so good as we expected.

We decided:
- use 6700T instead of 7700
- stay on 1060 MXM
- try Akasa 80x80x10.8 PWM Fan instead of double 65mm
- try Aluminum 130x90x11 Heatsink instead of Copper 130x80x11 Heatsink (because 3 reasons: 1.
Longitudinal fins instead of transverse. 2. 10mm wider. 3. Aluminum is able to radiate the heat into the air better than copper because of its lower density)

More tests in some weeks.
