Yes, not so good as we expected.
3. Aluminum is able to radiate the heat into the air better than copper because of its lower density

More tests in some weeks.

I'm pretty sure aluminium heatsinks perform worse, but I guess we will see soon from those tests.

@sergiiua You need shrouds on those GPU fans, to force the air through the heatsink!

Also, have you considered heatpipes / heatplates? They can be ordered in an aray of standard sizes, for testing, and mounted to the base of a milled heatsink with indium (low-temp) solder.

Yes, 80mm fan with frame works better then two 65mm frameless fans.

Interesting. Can you share some links?

Yeah, that brick looks humongo next to the case. It reminds me of this:

Looks real great, just wishing MXM cards were more affordable.

All is ready.

1. 95mm fan (PLD10010S12HH) from MSI Twin Frozr 5 (MSI GTX 980). Just need to replace the connector with the standard PWM 4pin.

2. Aluminum heatsink 140mm x 11mm x 140mm. Height is good, just need to cut length to 130mm and width to 95mm, drill 4 holes.

Why you changed heatsinks from copper to aluminum?

Why you changed heatsinks from copper to aluminum?

Because 4 reasons:
1. Longitudinal ribs instead of transverse. Fan will work with all heatsink.
2. 15mm (18%) wider.
3. Aluminum is able to radiate the heat into the air better than copper because of its lower density.
4. More distance between the ribs. Better for low air flow.

Ok then.
