Regarding the magnets & such…

You mentioned attaching the MB via magnets at one point, this still a thing…?

I can see this being SUPER easy to 'upgrade' in regards to the M.2 SSDs if the MB was attached by magnets; simply pop the top (magnets), pop up the MB (magnets) & insert new M.2…!

Top panel is mounted with magnets. M/B - with screws.

What are you planning to do to cool the GPU? AsRock isn't planning to have a cooling solution ready until May as far as I know.

Max temp is 72C

That's awesome for such a small heatsink! How fast does the fan spin at those temps?
Have you taken the height of the ram modules as max height for the other components? I don't think there's any going smaller left then :p

2300 rpm, it's not quiet and not loud. Just a little shhhh :) I play only in Overwatch and CS:GO on FullHD, and have 200+ fps on 144Hz monitor. I'll try a little downclock and 12V-to-9V adapter for lower rpm. Fan on 9V is quiet.

Yes, ram is the highest component. GPU cooler is 1mm lower than ram. CPU will be 2mm lower than ram.

So out of curiosity, what is the difference in height between the CPU IHS and the top of the die on the MXM unit?

EDIT: Nevermind, I missed the post above regarding height constraints on the case. Thanks for the data!

Prototype of MXM cooler is ready ;)
Height is 22mm (12mm copper heatsink + 10mm fan).
Tested with GTX 1060 in Overwatch.
Max temp is 72C

Waiting for CPU Cooler - Silverstone NT07 (23mm). Zalman CNPS2X (27mm) is very tall and not compatible with nano case, haha :)
I got an NT07 in case you ever need any data from it.

1060 is 780 USD, 1070 is 880 USD and the 1080 is 1150 USD. Hopefully AsRock gets some mega price cuts for buying bulk (I do know there are very substantial reductions at 200+ units).
