The Zotac is terrible value. It's 5.8L and uses a proprietary motherboard and an MXM GPU. With the 3.5L Mini you're getting a much cheaper, more powerful system that uses off-the-shelf components and is 40% smaller. If you don't want to wait, get any of the other 4-7L cases in production advertised here or on [H]ardforum SFF. Or consider the ASRock Deskmini GTX, which uses MXM too and is not good value, but at least it's really tiny at 2.7L or even smaller if you put it in a custom case.

I thought the En1060K is sub 3L too with the specs?

If i were to buy a 3.5-4L case, I would like to use my old parts and just buy a new EVGA 1050TI. As stated earlier i have a 2500k which till is enough today, imo, and I only play LoL and want to use my 144hz monitor.

Ofcourse as silent as possible is important and from my understanding cooler mounting could be troublesome for the asrock.

I Live in sweden and its a bit hard to get a hold of asrock mini and easier to get EN1060K.

Yes, the 1060 and 1070 variants are sub-3L, but the 1080 is 5.8L. There is now a 1080 ITX card by the way, from Gigabyte, that will fit in the Mini. You will still save a lot by going the CustomMod route. You can reuse your board and the 2500K (perfectly adequate for gaming still) and you'll just have to buy the case, power supply, and a short 1060. You'll probably save $450-500. And your system will be upgradable. Also, the EN1060K comes with a 7500T, which only boosts to 3.3GHz, so your 2500K will outperform it, and the mobile 1060 performs a good 15-20% worse than the desktop one. So I think it's worth going desktop despite the wait, the size is comparable.

In sweden we have VAT and the pricing is different here..

EN1060K = 9500 SEK which is about 1110 USD
EN1070K = 12700 SEK which is about 1495 USD
EN1080K = 22000 SEK which is about 2785 USD

Its not really worth to buy larger model imo when I only like I said play League of Legends. I prioritize noise before the cost.

Asrock deskmini 1060 is about 950 USD + 7400/7500 200USD + L9i 45 USD and we are at 1195 USD.

Going for the Zotac Magnus would be a bit cheaper but the CPU power isnt that big of a difference.

If I were going to re-use my 2500K it would be:

new GPU: 1050TI about 175 USD
Case + PSU: 320 USd

Anyways, I really want to order 3.5L, 4L or maybe custom to be able to have 52-55mm CPU-cooling instead of 39-40mm. But waiting 2 months...

I actually have a Zotac EN1070 which has been a fantastic home theater pc for the last year. I did a review on it a few months ago.

Compared to the CustomMod 3.24 the Zotac is quieter. The trade off is the CPU power. However, once they put a 6 core coffee lake in it, that will change.

The EN1070 is about half the size of the 3.24L when the 3.24 is laid flat.

Edit: A flaw of the Zotac I neglected to mention was the audio jacks. The system lacks 5.1 analog jacks on the back. Surround sound is only available via HDMI. Mine runs to a receiver so no issue there.

Since the L9i is struggling with Coffee Lake, I'd recommend getting it made wider for a bigger cooler or better fan.

Yeah, I think a better use of space for the 4.8L version is to make it shorter (so no 1080 Ti support), but make it wider to support a Noctua L12S. So 135x180x190 = 4.6L. The L12S allows you to use any CPU, even a 140W CPU. The C7 is hardly better than the L9i. And very few people are going to install Zotac's 1080 Ti, which missed the mark in noise and performance.

why? From all the tests I've seen, the only reason to consider the L9I over the C7 is the noise...
When i used it it performed worse than my l9i while being significantly louder.

It's definitely cheaper and better than the stock Intel heatsink, but the extra 10$ for the l9i is definitely worth it.

Speaking of L9is, I just installed one in a NODE 202 on a I5-3550. That is a 77 watt Ivy Bridge. My temps were substantially better than the L9i on the Coffee Lake. Way more so than it should be.

So I'm going to go ahead and reseat the cooler, and reapply thermal paste. If that doesn't change anything, I'll swap the cooler. Maybe I got a bad unit. It's super rare, and I've never had a bad heatsink in any build, but just maybe...

... or I've entered the denial phase ^_~

I seriously doubt it's bad, if the coldplate is flat and the heatpipes look intact, there's not a whole lot that could have gone wrong. The L9i just seems inadequate for the 8700.

A bit of good news for anyone with the 8700 series. I swapped my L9i for another (what a pain) and saw a 3 to 5 C drop in CPU temps. I also put a more powerful fan on, and saw another 5C drop. I can now game in BF1 at about the mid 80Cs. Looks like there was something wrong with that cooler.

Any news about the PSU for people that ordered with through you @sergiiua on party 7? I still haven't received it.

Just got the email about my case being shipped. Can't wait to put my computer part in this case. :-)

Quoting myself here: I put the stock fan back on, and the systems hit 100C in heavy gaming. Not good.

I'm just going to say this: DO NOT buy an 8700 or 8700K for the L9i. It's too much CPU to cool. Maybe when the 8700T launches it will be ok.

Personally, I won't run an L9i on a non T series CPU again.

Jeeze. Still too hot for my liking. What's the TDP on that chip?

FYI, I'm running a 4790s, which is 65w, and it's perfectly fine at all times. Think the S and R series is ok too.
