Just had an epiphany...

AMD has the X370, B350, A320 and *300 chipsets for Ryzen, yet most motherboard manufacturers market the B350 variant as AB350. AMD doesn't have an AB350, but with Intel due to go to *300 series next gen, I expect they are futureproofing for Intel B350 chipsets (successor to B250).

Thus we will see AB350 and IB350 boards. X370 is ok because Intel's *70 lineup is Z*70, and the other chip line is *10.

Am I right in this thinking, or have I missed this being officially announced anywhere?

Videocardz got rumors that Intel would out B360 instead while cursing under their breath.
If Ryzen and ThreadRipper weren't enough of a "HULK SMASH!" punch right smack dab in the groin, someone at AMD HQ decided to troll Intel even harder by purposely using a very similar naming scheme for the motherboard chipset. Except their HEDT chipset for ThreadRipper, of course, is exactly one digit higher (X399 instead of X299) to signify absolute surpremacy over its arch-nemesis. Too rich!

There is just an 8% IPC deficit in Ryzen versus Skylake and Kaby Lake, and I anxiously look forward to 2018's Pinnacle Ridge refresh closing the gap by upping the ante in the raw single threaded performance department.
