PC Perspective Reviews Falcon Northwest Fragbox

PC Perspective journalist Sebastian Peak has reviewed the latest Falcon Northwest Fragbox. For those that don’t know, Falcon Northwest is an elite boutique PC builder known for building some of the best, albeit expensive, prebuilt machines. They were also one of the first to venture into the Small Form Factor territory in the days when Lian Li PC-60s were considered average sized. Indeed, our own Drew Duncan wrote at length about and rebuilt a Fragbox that had been sent out for review by Maximum PC in May of 2009, in addition to interviewing Kelt Reeves, CEO of Falcon Northwest.

Here is the original Maximum PC article…

…. and after Drew got his hands on it.

So it came as no surprise that PC Perspective gave the modern Fragbox an Editor’s choice.

FragBox (and the little Shuttle PCs) is what made me fall in love with smaller PCs back in the early 2000s. The idea of packing a bunch of power into a small box like that is so cool. And now I am doing it myself but still weirdly would love a FragBox.

Right there with you. I loved those especially the FIC boxes back in the day. There was something so awesome about them. Rik's Random Retro actually uses an Athlon XP shuttle unit with the 9700PRO for some of his vids.

I build all my own stuff, but sometimes, I crave a nice pre-built too. Zotac is always in the corner of my eye with the Magnus line, but I'd love a Falcon NW. I actually owned a Falcon NW Mach V when the original Athlon came out. Remarkably well built systems.

This is not a review, it's an advertorial. The SS for cinebench has the typical asterisk denoting it ran once instead of the default stable 10min test before concluding the score. In a miniITX format one would expect AT LEAST to have a CPU and GPU stability test to ascertain if the enclosure becomes a hotbox resulting in throttling (with several data points). I guess PC perspective hasn't changed at all. Are they writing, undisclosed, whitepapers for Falcon Northwest too?
