Prison Architect is amazing, I wished they'd continue development on it and released more content. Steam Workshop though.
I also have Wolfenstein: The New Order in the pipeline, it was on my wishlist for a few years and this week it was reduced in price heavily. I've also gotten No Man's Sky after again a discount but mainly the content update and Banished. I won't get bored these holidays !

Agree about Prison Architect. You'll have a lot of fun with Banished too.

I'm mainly playing Planet Coaster these days. And of course, the occasional game of Stellaris. Definitely my two favourites of 2016.

Completely forgot there was a new Final Fantasy game out today, so should have FFXV to start on tomorrow.

Anyone who played Firewatch? I finished it recently and I'm a bit partial about the ending. The whole game was amazing, I loved the character interaction and the mystery that built up over time, but the ending was a little unsatisfying in a way. In another way I also really liked how the credits were used to bring the whole story to a close, that was a very nice detail.

I guess I'll be controversial.

I thought Firewatch was overall beautiful and emotional, but I am not sure I can say the whole game was good. Resident Evil's quick-time events have more gameplay. That being said, Firewatch has the kind of character interaction and dialogue choices I wish more actual games had.

I found that being forced to hold a controller and move when the only decision I actually had as a gamer was to use a radio or not was grindingly annoying combined with all the endless backtracking and recycling so I could use a radio or not.

It is one of those games that I absolutely loved one aspect of (enough to recommend the game) but the rest of it I really...disliked.

The ending didn't bother me at all considering
the game prepared me from the getgo that I was never going to interact with anything but a voice. I think there might a theme in there too..

I shared these thoughts with some other of my friends who are nuts about the game and have played it through multiple times. They raged. So I'm sorry in advance. I love art as much as the next person, but execution and ideas need to work together.

Absolutely fair. You either like that or you don't. I actually enjoyed the process of learning where everything is. It's the same feeling you get in GTA, but condensed. The gameplay was limited, but I was surprised how little I cared about that, the game just didn't seem to really miss it.

That was actually the smallest letdown for me. I was kinda hoping to meet Delilah in person, but I'm sure I would've been disappointed by her appearance. What I disliked was how the mystery around what's happening in the woods just didn't deliver. I actually feared to find out what's happening at some point, hearing the modified cassettes and how I was spied on made me furious, but in the end it was just Ned. I even knew that part would be a let down, and I still didn't expect it to be that big.

To be honest, I don't care much for the discussion about a game being art or not, especially one with a strong narrative like this. What I'm searching for is not artistic enlightenment or whatever, but interactive entertainment. And entertained I was, the story dragged me in and made me feel feelings. Maybe it would've worked as a movie as well, but as a game it did just as well, and maybe even better. For me, the gameplay elements were as much as I expected and wanted. The story was more important than the gameplay, and the simple mechanics signified that. More complex ones would've overshadowed the narrative in my eyes.

It's looking very interesting, being single-player only is a real surprise.

Yeah, I was super hyped when out of nowhere Piranha Games showed off their original concept trailer for MechWarrior 5 back in 2009:

But I was really disappointed when that project fell through and it morphed into the the multiplayer-only MWO which I was in the closed beta but just couldn't really get into. I spent many, many hours in MW3 (MW4 also and I even played a bit of MechAssault 1 for the Xbox) and I just prefer my MechWarrior games to be single-player with engaging campaigns.

It's now been 16 years since MW4 though Piranha so you better not screw it up! :p

I'm really looking forward to this MMO from Bossa Studios called Worlds Adrift.

If watching this doesn't excite you in the slightest, I don't know what will.

It's certainly interesting and looks to have some pretty cool mechanics!
Not my art direction or genre but might try it out!

After the launch of that patch my wife decided to a break from Starbound and return to Rimworld last night.
I occasionally looked over her shoulder to see what was going on and while it's not the kind of game for me, the amount of depth is pretty impressive.

The depth is pretty impressive already. It's not to the level of Dwarf Fortress but the interface doesn't make you want to gouge your eyeballs out in frustration either so that's nice.

No kidding, between those two games we may not see you again until Easter :p

I know, that's what I'm afraid of. Here is my Steam wishlist ... enough to keep me away from social life for a few years XD
