More something that happened vs. something I did: woke up this morning to a message from w360 telling me a bunch of M1s are stuck in German customs due to some screw up by Taiwan post on the customs invoice and it's going to cost us a minimum of $2500. This is on top of an already slow year sales wise compared to last. Sigh. #justbusinessthings

Worked on a plate for my next keyboard, the Banana Split. Using Fusion 360 for this one, and while it's a bit of a tedious start for me as an Inventor user, I really like what they're doing with it, especially how well they integrate different environments like rendering, simulation and CAM. The UI in general is MUCH better than Inventor, and the ability to start concept working as a body and then move on to parts and assemblies seamlessly is pretty cool as well.

Unfortunately, there's no sheet metal support yet :/ They are allegedly working on it, though.

I'm in the transition between jobs and plan to go into full swing next Monday. It's a remote temp job that pays better than my last one, and in a domain I always wanted to try out. So I guess I have to get used to the "freelance hustle" way of doing things, and search for a second job too.

Oh yeah regarding the car fan since a few people asked for it. Replacing it didn't fix the problem  It's more likely a temp sensor issue. I'd have to get it checked with someone more experienced.

I told myself I would wait to see what Vega had to offer, but I just couldn't do it. So I bought a Zotac GTX 1080 ITX today... Anything cheaper seems to be highly sought after for mining. I'm sure i'll be happy, and it's a move back to Nvidia for me after 4 years.

Started week 4 of working the overnight compressed shift. Adapting has been...interesting. Not in the least because your body hates you for the 3 days it takes to establish a new circadian rhythm (and even then sunlight will wake you right up when you need to go to sleep so it's like permanent jet lag), but also because working 12 hour shifts for an average of 3.5 days a week suddenly gives you a lot of free time.

So with all that free time, I weather-proofed in the inside of my car. No more bourgeois leather and carpet

I am slowly "buying in" to ethereum...
Buying or mining? I've been piecing together dedicated hardware. I managed to get a pretty good deal on some eBay ATX hardware to go with some of my existing components. I'll add more cards if and when I find more good deals.

Yeah, the prices have been pretty volatile at times. I'm trying to make use of what I already have with minimal expenditure. As long as I can cover my electricity costs, then it's a net gain for me. That shouldn't be much of an issue, but I'd also like to minimize mining on my main rig. We'll see how it turns out.

Reinstalled/reinstalling windows for the second time this year because it refused to install .Net 3.5 which is required for a lot of software, including Autodesk Inventor. Joy.

I think I'll go for a portable version of my browser this time because I can't deal with backing up AppData each time anymore to keep my history and bookmarks.

Nominally today, or possibly yesterday now? Spent several hours from 1AM caught up in a cavalcade of ineffectiveness stemming from what should have been a simple 'turn it off and on again'. Thank goodness for the contract clause triggered by early-morning emergency callouts meaning I get the rest of the day off.
