Yes I read yours and others findings, too. I'm probably going to do some manual ram overclocking when I start building my sff-Build. Probably when ryzen 3 launches ;)

I was mostly worried, I do not receive ddr4 vlp but instead ddr3 vlp or ddr4 so-dimm as others did.

But it was perfeclty legit at a very reasonable price :)

Hi Guys, I've few issues trying to overclock the Innodisk VLP 2666 DDR4, 16gb with a Gigabyte Z390 ITX. The voltage is greyed out, and I cannot go above 1.2v and 2800MHz. Someone knows how to unlock this, or are the RAM "locked"?? No problem with other RAM so far!

There are some new VLP available from Kingston.

Strange, I could overclock mine normally to 3200mhz with no problems on my Asus x470i. You might want to ask Gigabytes support directly.

Well Giganyte just answered that that RAM has a fixed voltage?!!!! I hate this useless customer service! I try on the Asus Z390, we’ll see...

@fabio Mine overclocked just fine and I still use it, full voltage control on an asrock AM4 b350 board. Locked ram voltage with an unlocked intel chipset sounds absurd - that must be Gigabyte's fault and I have no idea why they would do that.

Edit: My bad, I thought you had Adata. Ceski overclocked Innodisk VLP ram but I think he deleted his account from the forums..

Well. I've tried on an ASUS board, and the voltage is still locked! So, I really don't know. So, you confirm the ADATA are voltage unlocked???

Some overclocking info about the Innodisk VLP RAM (Samsung C-die). After a lot of trial and error (had to clear CMOS multiple times) I managed to overclock Innodisk VLP from 2667MHz 20-19-19-19-43 to 3200MHz 16-17-17-17-35. There's a substantial performance improvement but it's a shame that Samsung B-die VLP isn't available anymore. Intel platform would most likely allow higher clocks and/or tighter timings.

Here's an AIDA64 benchmark, stock and overclocked:

Timings:

Hey man, How did you change the RAM voltage? I cannot on my Asus Z390 with the Innodisk!

I remember someone did here! I will try this evening and I will let you know!

I had two 16GB VLP ECC sticks from Micron directly with (Micron) b-die and they went up to 3200 16 19 19 19 37 58 @1.33v on my 2700x.

Well, I’ll try to get them! Mine are Innodisk Samsung b-die. The Gigabyte Z390 support ECC ram without using the ecc. I hope that the OC capabilities are not related only with the AMD platform!

Yeah I've confirmed it with my asrock am4 board. I also have an asrock intel z270 board I could try it on, but you'll need to wait a few days until I can let you know. I've got big life events going on at the moment so don't have much time for my PC until things settle down.

Well, tried on my other ASUS Z390, with the latest BIOS, and I CAN OVERCLOCK them!
So, Gigabyte support made a BIG mistake.
The 2x16gb Innodisk are stable at 3200MHz, C16 18 38 at 1.35V. I've tried to lower the timing, but at 16 17 37 Doesn't post.
I should try to increase the Voltages, but I am super ok! Finally I can move on my Ghost S1 Air Build.
Only missing the Ghost! ahahahahahah!
Thanks for the help!

Finally have my adata ram :)

I'll be messing with it this weekend seeing what it can do. First off, here are some pictures and stock timings and thaiphoon info. If you happened to have a board that can't tweak ram timings then you'll be stuck with very loose.

Aida64, stock 2666
Read: 40488 MB/s
Write: 39512 MB/s
Copy: 36535 MB/s
Latency: 80.7 ns

Gorgeous!!!

Side question; semi-off topic: If it is possible to make RAM this low profile, why do companies not do this more often? Personally, I see potential for RGB RAM that are normal height (35 mm) if built onto VLP-RAM-modules. I would really like to have RGB RAM in my rig, but I can only fit 35 mm (normal height) RAM, so atm, RGB is out of the question.

I think they just don't see demand for it, and our niche is pretty small. Most VLP looks to be ECC or RDIMM modules made for servers which I'm guessing make use of the low profile for cooling or cramming more hardware into the racks.

Sure there is no demand, but why not just make it? Is it that much more expensive if you would make VLP, instead of normal if all your production would be that? Would use less PCB-material too = Save. :p I mean, VLP is expensive NOW because there is a low production of it.

Anyhow, I'm happy there seems to be more and more of VLP out there.
