Some overclocking info about the Innodisk VLP RAM (Samsung C-die). After a lot of trial and error (had to clear CMOS multiple times) I managed to overclock Innodisk VLP from 2667MHz 20-19-19-19-43 to 3200MHz 16-17-17-17-35. There's a substantial performance improvement but it's a shame that Samsung B-die VLP isn't available anymore. Intel platform would most likely allow higher clocks and/or tighter timings.

Here's an AIDA64 benchmark, stock and overclocked:

yup never set timings before. So confusing on the ASROCK Phantom

edit: this is what i got Is this good? ASROCK app says 1.392V

so IDK if its @ 2400 or 3200 currently

So got mine all set up with my 8700T which I reckon could be run passive. This thing idles at like 20-25 degrees! Can't wait to get my Black Ridge hooked up in my Dan A4 V3
I have a setup just about the same as you! I also just got my 8700T Engineering sample with Adata DDR4 2400 VLP ram. The cpu only tops at 50 deg at load with a stock intel cooler at 3.1GHz all cores!
I have an Asrock B360 itx board, thus I can't overclock the ram beyound 2666, but I'll try overclocking it with my ryzen setup.

Nice man! Yeah its a great set up, super cool and quiet yet powerful

I could tolerate $150 for 16GB, and <= $120 is where I'm happy. But enoch is sadly still $200+ for 16GB, too much for me. Hopefully it gets cheaper next year because it looks like really good ram.

It looks enoch just dropped their pricing on Innodisk 16GB VLP 2666MHz M4UI-AGS1WC0K-C to $169.40. Its not $150, but it is a lot better than it was. I have been watch this site for awhile now, waiting for the price to drop.

Innodisk seems the cheapest because it's not buffered, non ECC.
and easy to source.

Wow for $160 thats a steal, I payed almost $260 for my 2x8GB kit in dual-rank.

EDIT: And thanks to @ceski and his amazing "DDR4 overclocking cheatsheet" spredsheet. I was able to tighten my RAM's timings and increase the clock speed of the RAM and increase my performance almost close to my CORSAIR Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-4000 kit... note that this RAM is dual-rank (dual sided) so Single-Rank may overclock higher. But this RAM is what is known as "industrial downbin" RAM which isn't meant for overclocking, and it's no Samsung B-die, but it's SAMSUNG E-die.

Here's my AIDA64 benchmartks:
Corsiar LPX 4000MHz
(19-23-23-45 CR2)
Read: 49644 MB/s
Write: 56790 MB/s
Copy: 46705 MB/s
Latency: 43.3 ns

(STOCK) Innodisk VLP DDR4 2666MHz 1.2v
(19-19-19-43 CR2)
Read: 38152 MB/s
Write: 41103 MB/s
Copy: 36841 MB/s
Latency: 57.2 ns

(OC) Innodisk VLP DDR4 3333MHz 1.392v
(14-18-18-36 394T CR2)
Read: 48632 MB/s
Write: 51818 MB/s
Copy: 46846 MB/s
Latency: 44.0 ns

my performance is almost identical except for the Write. I tried higher mem clocks and timing but this is the tightest timings, highest clock and lowest stable voltage for me to be Karhu Memtest 3200% stable. :)
And this is not bad considering my VLP DDR2 kit is downbin E-die.

I'd like to use an Alpenföhn Black Ridge inside a DAN case A4-SFX on an ASUS ROG Strix Z390-I Gaming, but it has the limitation that I have to put the fan below the coolor, rather than above as usual. If that fan shall be 120mm, I can only use VLP DIMMs.

Where do I get these DIMMs from? When looking for it I only find DDR3 RAM or server (ECC, registered) RAM. What I'd like to get is 2 * 16 GB DDR4 UDIMM.

Update 1: I received the Photos of Superbuy, they are indeed DDR4 2666 VLP U-DIMM.
Shipping today for additional USD 5.- = Total cost of USD100.- for 16GB DDR4 VLP. No I have to wait about 15-30 Days, until I receive them.

I just ordered the ADATA 2x8GB VLP 2666 RAM on Superbuy for a total of USD 95.- That's a steal in my opinion.

I'll update you with infos, when they arrive. I hope I receive the right ones ;)

You need to select "white" for the 2x8gb 2666mhz (orange is 2x8gb 2400mhz, dark purple is 1x8gb 2400mhz, navy blue is 1x8gb 2666mhz i suppose).

Wonderful News!

I received the 2x8GB DDR4 VLP RAM from China.

They are indeed ADATA DDR4 RAM, in fact: AD4X266638G19.

But they do not have Samsung B-die, they have Memory-Chips from SpekTek, an OEM for Micron.

Short testing with my Ryzen 7 1700 resulted in a stable system at 3066C16-20-20-20 (no subtimings tuned, no long term stability tested yet)

In Comparison, this is about equal than my previous Hynix RAM at 3000C16-18-18-18 but lower than my current Samsung B-Die at 3200C14-15-15-15.

This means, I can recommend this RAM for any Intel-based system. For AMD-Systems it depends, if you can live with subpar no B-Die-RAM.

btw. this is my first part for my planned SFF build. Testing were done on my current midi-Tower Ryzen 7 1700 with Asus Prime X370-Pro Mobo.

That lines up pretty well with the experiences other users have had with the adata ram :) they have some headroom for frequency but the timings are among the worst you can get.

Frankly that hasn't bothered me as I still use my adata vlp almost daily

Fwiw, I found the wording on spektek being an oem for micron a bit confusing and I had to read up a bit more. If this helps clarify for others like me - spektek is a manufacturing division of micron :)
