Well, my package arrived.. with an 8GB Adata XPG DDR4 SODIMM inside. Handy, but not a VLP DIMM :| Chasing the seller now.

Did you go through Aliexpress?
I know it's too late now, but Superbuy will take a picture of the item before you have them ship it :) very nice for making sure you get the right thing before it crosses oceans.

So any low profile coolers available for VLP ram right now? I'm wondering is an IS-50 can be used somehow. Looking for 55mm and leas height.

Finally have my adata ram :)

I'll be messing with it this weekend seeing what it can do. First off, here are some pictures and stock timings and thaiphoon info. If you happened to have a board that can't tweak ram timings then you'll be stuck with very loose.

Aida64, stock 2666
Read: 40488 MB/s
Write: 39512 MB/s
Copy: 36535 MB/s
Latency: 80.7 ns

I'm not finished messing with it but I'll share what I've found so far :)

The specification export from thaiphoon is not compatible with Ryzen dram calculator unfortunately. The calculator doesn't read it in correctly, probably because the manufacturer information is different than the calculator expects. I've tried to use safe presets for some looser Micron dies, but it wouldn't boot. Trying to tighten up the timings has been a bit unforgiving, and I've had the most success by letting it boot auto settings and slowly tightening up from there.

However, I'm pleasantly surprised that I had no issues increasing the frequency :)

I am not all that up to date on ryzen, aside from knowing that 3200mhz is good, and obviously tight timings are best. I am curious what the performance hit is for 18-20-20-20-47, as opposed to moderate ram at say 16s/17s?

I am not sure to be honest, as I don't have much experience with good DDR4. My other kit of ram has the loosest timings GSkill sold for DDR4 3200. I'm seeing similar Aida64 results as that kit, which is 16-18-18-18-38, however I didn't take any time to hand tune the GSkill kit so it isn't a fair comparison.

I do need more benchmarks for ram, as right now I only have Aida64 for synthetic measurements and Prime95 for stability.

I think I'm done working on 3200mhz with 1.35v. I've settled on 18-19-19-19-39-58. Any further on the primary timings and it blue screens when booting windows. Aida64 results are only slightly better so I'm not going to make another chart, latency is 69.7ns now.

Hopefully someone else will be able to share their experiences when they get theirs :) It's definitely very loose ram but I'm happy enough to keep using it.

I get the latency comparison, Nokyard, but do you know at all how that translates to a real world difference? I found some benchmarks for Ryzen on amd community, but I think they were run at 1080p. Those benchmarks showed 10-15 FPS difference depending on clocks and timings. They were all 130fps+ though.

Hrmm, thanks for the update. If the difference between timing at 3200mhz wasn't that big at 1440p, i'd consider it.

ditto this, but if you're gonna be ordering from aliexpress soonish, I'd take advantage of the 11.11 coupons (get select coupon on the product page. i got 10) I havent used them yet (they're time gated) but it looks like I'm gonna be getting 15 quid off :p. maybe, there might be some drawback

Just ordered, unfortunately I'm hoping to receive these parts soon after I return to the US. Now I just need a 120mm fan that I can order later

They have the right ram pictured so hopefully they send the right stuff. Just know that aside from 2400mhz, every other spec on their listing is completely wrong (1.5v and CL 9 timings, that's DDR3 copy and paste)
It'll be 1.2V, the 2666 kit is CL 19 so I would guess the 2400 kit is CL 18 but we will find out when you get yours :)

You have a few options, best would be Noctua NFa12x15 but I have order an ID Cooling NO 12015. There is also the Silverstone FN123 if you can find it. They'll all be pretty similar in terms of airflow and noise, but the Noctua will be the best.

Edit: You know what, NateDawg's comments pretty much answer all of that for me.
SuperBuy it is!
