For my SM550 cpu cooler choice will be quite a challenge (or simple depending of point of view).

Basically I have 39mm height RAM stick (DDR3) but I want to keep them as my future platform will have similar size RAM height (flare X with 40mm height).

Thus i guess it's killing IS60 or black ridge cpu cooler.

2 paths are doable :
  • Going to Asetek 645LT...but it's awful to find
  • Keep 95x95mm cpu cooler like :
    • Id cooling IS-VC45 + 92x25mm fan (intake) (owned)
    • Passive Noctua NH-L9x65 (owned)
    • Chromax Noctua NH-L9i (+plus AM4 bracket)
    • Cryorig C7 (whatever variant..;))
Do you have any recommendation/advice please?

Two other cases I have in works are designed for slightly larger air coolers:

SV540 is an SM550 in vertical layout, 2-slot GPUs, but with 75mm CPU cooler height.

Console layout with 3-slot GPU support (CL3, name TBD) also has 75mm CPU cooler height.

Here's all our cases cooling options:

2-slot GPU
CONSOLE CL2 - 53mm air
SM550 - 55mm or 92mm AIO
SV540 - 75mm air or 120mm AIO
SM570 - 55mm air, 92mm AIO, 240mm AIO, or 2x 120mm AIOs

3-slot GPU
SM560 - 55mm air, 92mm AIO, or 120mm AIO
CONSOLE CL3 - 75mm air
SM580 - 55mm air, 240mm/280mm AIO or 2x 120mm AIO
SV590 - 55mm air, 360mm AIO, or 240mm + 120mm AIO
What about the Cerb Mini? I thought it was confirmed! Don't break my heart!

Wait for a 645LT, or go with an SM570?

It's confirmed but not called Cerb Mini =p

I concur, the 645LT is going to give you the best performance, and minimize interference with the taller ram heat spreaders. My second choice would be the something like the SBS3 passive but would require some ducting to maximize performance.

Any other input on how I should set up fans for

SM580 ( Windowed CPU panel and Vented GPU Panel)
i7 9700K (H100i Pro Cooler)
EVGA RTX 2080ti XC GAming

I'm doing something similar: SM580 (solid CPU/vented GPU) with a rad at the top and plan to have all of the fans in exhaust. Worst case, I'll CnC a vent for the PSU, but I doubt It'll need it. I'll let you know how my temps look once I get a hold of the case.

For Gigabyte Aorus X570-I owners here, are you able to edit the chipset fan curve in the SIV app in Windows? I'm using BIOS revision F6b and I only have the option to edit the fan curve for the CPU_FAN and SYS_FAN1 headers but not the SYS_FAN2 (Chipset/PCH fan) header. Is this expected? I'm reading that other Gigabyte X570 boards (non-ITX) provide this capability in SIV.

Getting into SFF for the first time and I'm very interested in either the SM550 or SM560 but I'm not sure about my GPU compatibility. I have a MSI RTX 2080 Ti DUKE 11G OC with dimensions of 314 x 120 x 50 mm which is bang on 50mm width for the SM550 (even though it's technically a 2.x slot card) but longer than the 550's 305mm max length.

The SM560 says it can support cards up to 325mm with front panel SSD tray removed, so my question is; can this also be done in the SM550 and would my card fit in it?

I would rather go for the 550 if I can for the smaller footprint. Or is trying to stuff my card into a 550 not worth it to have a 20mm thinner case?

Thanks.

On my Aorus X570-I I was not able to edit the chipset fan curve. Out of curiosity, do you find that yours is running too hot, or too loud? Honestly, I've never even noticed the little fan and I was stress testing on Prime95 for hours at a time.

I tune it at the bios. I have a ncase m1, and with an AIO with the radiator on the side, the two 120 mm fans blow directly to the board, and the chipset almost never go above 50 degrees so the fan doesn´t move because with the silen fan profile it starts at 60 degrees... so passive mobo for me XD

Even in the BIOS? Are you running F6b? I'm not on-site with the system now so I cannot confirm.

And yes, it is loud at 4000+ RPM.

Ok. Well, what profile do you have it set on the BIOS? And how fast does it slin when idling in Windows 10?

Where do you even see it reported? It doesn't show up for me in HWinfo64.

Edit: It's set to balanced in the bios and was spinning at ~2k RPM at the bios screen but it isn't audible at all at that speed.

Edit2: I updated to the beta version of HWinfo and it showed up. Sits at 2k ish at windows idle, and up to around 3k when stressing the nvme drive, but in both cases its still inaudible.

I see it in HWMonitor.

If it's spinning at 2K RPM, then I can imagine how that is "not loud" for you.

@Allhopeforhumanity, one thing I noticed is that as soon as I set the PCH Fan profile to Silent, I can't monitor it in HWMonitor anymore. But when it was using the Balance profile, it was definitely shown there. So my question is that, are you sure you are still using the Balance profile?
