PCWorld visited Zotac's booth. Apparently the 1080 mini will be around 8.3"
Possibly. But im not courageous enough to mod such an expense card permanently hopefully it'll fit with just the shroud removedI mean, if the PCB is no longer than 6.7 inches to fit the Mini-ITX spec, couldn't someone just dremel off the one heatpipe and heatsink piece that's hanging off to the side? I'll still hold out for a legit review of the card from a site that actually measures it out, it might still be possible to fit this in an S4 mini.
Yup, I'm estimating 213mm: https://smallformfactor.net/forum/t...-1080-be-even-possible.1116/page-3#post-26152
he Bezel is about 5mm thick, and it is 203mm to the bezel. I'll let you guys figure the rest out.
The Arctic Accelero Mono looks promising, but it is 51mm thick. It also doesn't list comparability with the 1080, even though it has a claimed 200 watts of cooling capacity.Part of me wonders if you couldn't use an aftermarket cooler like the Arctic Accelero III on this instead of chopping it apart.
I like this line of thought. Taking the fans and the shroud off to trim the aluminum fins could do it, and if the heatpipes are whats left, we could just bend it. If the fan turns out to be what's left, we could easily trim that right 100mm fan's edges a bit without having to compromise cooling and remove it.Well remember those 5mm was if you wanted to cut into the front of the S4 mini's bezel. So if you cut the whole 5mm bezel thickness, you'd have a gaping hole and you could just slide the end of the graphics card out the front of the case at that point without modifying it at all.
You could probably take the stock fans/shroud off the card, and trim some of the aluminum fins to make it fit. You can bend the heatpipes but you can't cut them. It would allow the fluid in them to leak out and then that entire heatpipe doesn't work anymore. But heatpipes are really bendable, so you could just bend it up a little after cutting the aluminum fins to make it fit.
hi josh,
how did you stack the Zalman CNPS2x with the scythe fan? also is it ok to use the 4pin power connector to power the asus z170 mobo instead of using a 8pin adapter?
