While a slim ODD sandwiched in between the backside of the MB & the GPU chamber would be pretty neat, it would increase the volume beyond the sub 4 liters the chassis is currently at…

Slapping an ODD on the side would block either the CPU intake area or the GPU intake area…

My opt would be no GPU, no 3.5" use the space for one of the slot bay units from Silverstone, card readers .USB3 and M2 carrier, plus however many SSD would fit, and maybe room for front mount pwr button. Mind you, I tend to power up from k-brd mouse nudge nyway, rarely use the buttons.
I really like the latest iteration of the case,

Have you done any acoustics testing yet? I would think the NH L9i would be quite noisy at max rpm with it being only 3mm from the side panel.

Wow awesome 4L case. Looking forward to getting my hand of one of this baby.

random thought. best gpu i can think of to fit under 180cm is zotac's 1060 mini . HOpefully there's gonna be more gpu minis by the time your case is out on the market

I am partial to the EVGA GTX 1060 SC Gaming 6GB model for a 'budget' ITX-sized modern GPU…

But I would really, Really, REALLY love to see an ITX-sized powerhouse with HBM2, something along the performance lines of the 1080 or Titan X Pascal; but at the 1070 price point…!!!

I'm hopeful for AMD's lineup to have short HBM cards, even though no third party has yet released a short RX480. But with HBM2 there is no reason to have a long PCB unless to support a huge heatsink, so the watercooling is still a solution, which I actually liked quite a lot.

If they come out with a new version of the R9 Nano I'm gonna be so on board for that.

Is there room for HDPLEX's 160W DC-ATX Direct-plug? If so, then there would be plenty of room for either a 80W or 160W Internal AC-DC Adapter and space for orderly cable management.

If things fall into place, there will be a switch to a PCIE 3.0 cable between now and when I make this available.

Good to know, but I'm also toying with the idea of making a case myself and would need a similar length of riser so I was wondering which you used. I'll probably just end up getting a Hutzy xs in the end though!

That should run fine even on PCIe 1.0, there's not a lot of data to be transmitted for a sound card. Maybe look at the spec sheet and try to find out what the required minimum is?
Gotcha. This is what my manual says:

PCI Express Rev.1.0a specification compatible; max full 2.5 Gbps bandwidth per direction; compatible with X1, X4, X8, X16 PCI Express Slots
