Let the wallets weep my friends... REALLY looking to see perf numbes since 1080tis are going for 550 used.

Not my original thoughts but I saw some stating that NVidia will likely go down a process to hit 7 nm when Navi does so these cards may be an 18 month cycle.. SOOOO get that Ti money from the brand loyalists now. Break out RTX+ on a refined fab and BOOM milk them again. Oh yeah and throw out the RTX Titan for like 1600+ here in a few months too.

Just ordered a 2080 Ti. Was available on the Nvidia UK site before Jensen even announced it. The site crashed a few times, said "out of stock" when I tried to check out a few times, but eventually it worked and I put in the order for... £1099. Dear lord... Luckily the pound is cheap now. I hope it's worth it, I'll try to defray some of the cost by mining with it.
Will post a shot with it in my M1 as soon as I get it (site said it ships Sept 20th).
Edit: Seems like it's $1000 in the US, I miss home.

For those interested in reading the summary for the livestream. Gist of it is:
Ray Tracing is the future. 20 series card have 10X the RT compute of 10-series.
Last year's XX80 pricing is this year XX70 pricing. So the pricing for all the product stack moved up a notch.
Pricing of FE editions:
2070 - 2304 Cuda cores - $600 - 0.26 per cuda core
1070 - 1920 Cuda cores - $450 - 0.23 per cuda core
Seems that unless the game is has ray tracing built in, the price to performance is about the same, if we assume uplift 10% per cuda core via process improvement, more bandwidth, and architecture tweak.
TLDR: No new performance gain per $$ this gen unless you got Ray Tracing features in your game. NVidia has no reason to improve price/performance since AMD can't compete.

I will definitely share impressions, though by that time there will be lots of reviews. I look forward to putting that beast in my NCase M1 X99 system, it's making do with a 1050 Ti ATM after I sold my 1080 Ti (which fully paid for itself and enabled this purchase).
Indeed, all of the claims that it's 6-10 times faster than Pascal were in regards to ray tracing only. I think the reason they launched the 2080 Ti alongside the 2080/2070 is because the 2080 will not be faster than the 1080 Ti overall. After all, Pascal was a massive die shrink, Turing is only going from 14nm to 12nm. Still, the 2080 Ti has 500 more CUDA cores than the 1080 Ti, plus the RT and AI cores -- but also a massive 260W TDP (hence the new cooler...)
$1200 for FE in the US makes me feel a bit better, with the cheap pound mine came out to $1400. Usually tech in the UK is like 30-40% more, so that's not an awful deal. The FE design is pretty cool, though it almost seems like they could have squeezed in a third fan.

The founders edition cards are usually more expensive. Cards from AIBs will probably start at the lower prices
That is not really true in practice. See 10 series launch. AIB cards were the same price.
Hm the more I think about the specs, the more I think that for $1200 they could have given us 16GB of GDDR6, especially considering the sheer amount of compute power.
They could've released quite a while ago, but they don't have any competition from AMD.

900 to 1000 -> 20 months

We can clearly see where AMD starts to fall back and attempt to play the catch up game.
If Nvidia gets too far ahead, they would get the monopoly and AMD GPU sales would keep going down, which isn't really a good thing for us enthusiast.
With the trend, theoretically, Nvidia would be releasing 3000 series in about three years from now.

Agreed. The important bit is "prices start at". Whether they actually do remains to be seen.
