This was my ambition but the TY-100 doesn’t allow the cooler to fit into the motherboard (ASRock Z390 Phantom Gaming-ITX/ac), even in its narrowest 101mm width.

The stock 92mm fan frame is already very very close to touching the RAM heatspreaders (Corsair Vengeance LPX) on one side and the VRM heatsink on the other.

Depending on your motherboard it may be possible though, and it might work on the ASRock Z390 Phantom with naked headspreader-less DDR4 + removal of the VRM heatsink.
Good to know. Glad I went with VLP ram instead.

The V1 had a manufacturing defect where the heat pipes were not correctly soldered to the heat spreader, invalidating most testing results. With the included 90mm fan, the performance shouldn't be much better than the Noctua L9 (as I understand it).

To make this the best air cooler, you need to use the Noctua 120x15 fan paired with VLP ram. This is exactly what I'm going to do, but I don't have a way to test this right now. I won't have all the needed parts for likely a few more months. :( I snagged this early since I have no idea if/when they'll get more inventory.

As for swapping the fan, I would suggest using Thermalright 100mm Slim Fan as a replacement if you are not using VLP ram. It will align with the 90mm mounting holes and the slim side shouldn't interfere with LP ram. I believe that increasing the area the fan covers would do more for cooling than the NF A9x14 would do.

Thank you for the great reply!

I'm wondering about using VLP ram, since the price is double, and I think that the performance is worse, although I'm confident it's not noticeable at all when using intel CPUs.

When using normal ram and a 92mm fan (or that 100mm you mentioned), is there a better cooler?
I actually plan on getting the Intel 9900 65W locked CPU, since its turbo boost is up to 5.0GHz and it's 8 cores 16 threads, which is alot of power for me.

Since we're considering VLP, which one do you recommend?

Thank you again!

Read @friendscatdied comment. Unfortunately, 100mm fan will not work with most boards by the sounds of it.

As for VLP Ram, see this thread. There are good options for 16GB (2x8GB) under 90 USD now.

edit: as for alternatives, since you are going with intel, the Cooltek Lp53 seen here has been considered king of air cooling. I do believe the Black Ridge will become the new king, but we shall see.

Also, KMPKT has something in the works to watch for.

Unfortunately it is out of stock. Both colors apparently. @jhack

Black Ridge V1

As youy can see its basically 10 degrees cooler.

I have the 120mm Fan installed on the Asrock Z390 Phantom M-ITX.

No case fans yet. Notice the Motherboard temps.

Can now OC to 4.9Ghz without overheating, Previously it was 4.7Ghz. 8C difference between 4.9Ghz and 4.8Ghz.

5.0Ghz w/ 0.10 undervolt = 90C
4.9Ghz w/ 0.10 undervolt = 88C
4.8 Ghz w/ 0.10 undervolt = 87C
No Idea whats going on PIC FOR PROOF

Hi guys, was able to test my BlackRidge v2+Noctua NF-A12x15 PWM in my Dan-Cases A4-SFX v1. I used Kryonaut for testing. Noiselevel was measured at 10cm distance with side panels attached. Testing was done versus my old Cryorig C7. For stress testing I used Prime 26.6 large ffts running for 30min. I put down the temps for my 32gb vlp innodisk memory 3133MHz@CL16-17-17-35-52 CR1 as well. CPU is a R7 1800X UC+UV @3.4GHz -100mV. I needed to modify the bracket to fit the BlackRidge on my ASRock B350 gaming itx.

C7 with cardboard fanduct, environmental temperature 20.8°C:
CoreTemp 70°C, 2122rpm, 50.8dB
Inno1 57°C
Inno2 61°C

BlackRidge without fanduct, environmental temperature 21.5°C:
CoreTemp 62°C, 1386rpm, 40.6dB
Inno1 53°C
Inno2 51°C

Although it was again a pain to install the BlackRidge, the results with the Noctua Fan are amazing to me. It's a whopping 10dB difference plus way cooler CPU. As a nice side effect my ram sticks stay cooler as well. Hating its quality but loving the functionality.

Honestly, the fact that the Black Ridge with just the standalone NF-A9x14 (2200RPM/1.5W) can handle a 9900K for a full Blender load with no AVX offset is pretty impressive to me.

With my undervolted chip this is a 150W load and the Black Ridge when fully heat-soaked tops out at 92'C through the Classroom run.

Next I'll try the 2500RPM/2.5W NF-A9x14 and see how it fares through Cosmos Laundromat (~2.5x the runtime). ?

I've also got a 3D printed duct on its way, perfect size for the Dan A4 but it would be easy enough to modify the height of it to match any other case that this heatsink fits on. I'll share the file once I've tested that it is a perfect fit.

@Van0: Did you test your 3d-printed duct for the BR yet? Could your share the file? I for one would be very interested in a fan duct for the BR!
