@Damascus

Just so I'm clear here, are you still planning to use the vapour chamber to spread heat to that fin array or are you redesigning the system to use a base and 4 x 8mm heat pipes?

I can stand by this and would truly recommend it at any time!
Awesome, what rig would you advise I use?
6950x + 24gb of RAM, 960gb nvme
Or
4690k + 32gb of RAM, 250fb 850 evo

Basically, is it worth if to give up on a bit of everything for a RAM and clockspeed advantage?

Sorry for any confusion but the design there is unrelated to my air cooler. I think it would be really interesting to build an ultra slim watercooling radiator directly on a custom side panel, adding little to nothing to overall volume but having some hopefully impressive results.

When I'm feeling creative I tend to go in a million directions at once lol

Nope. Not at all.

Please create another thread for that if you're going to make it a reality, unnessecary confusion is one of the most annoying things ever.

Will do, if I wind up making something like that I'll definitely seperate it.

After a bit of googling I found something very interesting, a 90° 24 pin ATX adapter. Seeing it out of stock, I emailed asking for availability and it looks like one should be headed my way soon! Pretty excited about it, the possibilities for fan and heatsink size go up for several mobos if you don't have to worry about pesky cables :)

Out of curiousity what are the two other fans you have pictured with the Jonsbo? Also as far as other thin fan options in 120mm the following come to mind:

http://www.prolimatech.com/en/products/detail.asp?id=2722 (15mm thick)

https://noctua.at/en/nf-a12x15-pwm.html (15mm thick)

http://gelidsolutions.com/thermal-solutions/case-fan-slim-12-uv-blue/ (16mm thick)

@Kmpkt it's a nidec sevro gentle typhoon 2150rpm and a 4800rpm delta server fan, accounting for my highest performing fans. I've got another 2150 and 3 1850 typhoons as well - they really are beasts.

I plan on doing a comprehensive test of fan performance, given that I have about 15 unique fans throughout my own and my families PC's it'll be a pretty big project :p

Live and learn, 120mm is no-where close to the size I need for 90% of the hermes project. The majority of them will be used in a AXP-100 style 92mm cooler, rather than the main project

It's been too long since my last update, I now have everything but the motherboard. I'm starting testing on the optimal fan now, added 3 120mm and 2 100mm to my collection

New slim fans
