Hi there,

Looking online I've seen numerous cases of the 1800x sitting at 50-60 idle, however, mines currently sitting at 73C in the bios. I'm running an 1800x, Biostar X370GTN (ready for my NFC S4 mini), a Noctua NH-L9a and a 1080Ti.

So far:

I've remounted the cooler twice.
CPU is at stock 3600 at 1.375 and RAM set to 2933 Cas 14

Any ideas?

Thanks

yip I think there was a thread here earlier that mentioned it but install amd ryzen master and it will show the true cpu temperature with the offset already taken out.

Indeed, the "X" CPUs have a +20°C offset which not all motherboards (or monitoring apps) take in consideration.

This is my 1800X on an Asus Prime X370-Pro board with BIOS 0604 (I think) and with a Noctua NH-L12 cooler, in AIDA64:

Note how the "CPU" and "CPU Diode" differ in read-out but also fluctuation. My board used to base it's fan control on the temperature of the CPU Diode value, which meant strongly fluctuating fans at idle (see beginning and end of graph). Luckily now it uses the "CPU" value which I believe is the temperature of the heatspreader and is less prone to peaks. But as you can also see, mine doesn't run at very high idle temps, because the offset is disabled by the BIOS (as far as I know).
