The Planck EZ 47 Key Keyboard Hits Pre-order

Comment: We’re a big fan of SFF stuff here (well duh!). Some of us have only SFF systems, whilst some go the whole hog – SFF peripherals, cars, houses… you get what I mean. For those who love SFF keyboards, the Planck EZ 47 Key is ready for pre-order. Whilst the minimalist aesthetic and form factor may not be for all, this should please some in the SFF Keyboards forum thread.  Eschewing a numpad, function keys, amongst much more, this is simplicity. As a 104 key enthusiast (I demand a numpad!), this isn’t my thing, but to each their own! …

Sapphire to launch Pulse RX 560 LITE GPU

Recently, there was some kerfuffle in the tech news regarding a “weaksauce” variant of the RX 560 – with the typical 1024 SP model pared down to a mere 896. Whilst this was originally for the Chinese Gaming Cafe market, it seems that this “lite” chip will indeed make it to the western market. Sapphire is launching the “Pulse Radeon RX 560 LITE”, a 1300mhz factory overclocked card with 2 and 4GB VRAM variants. The cooler on these cards is a little beefed up versus the current “Pulse” cooler – with twin fans instead of a single unit. The card …

Jonsbo Launches in the USA

Jonsbo cases, love em or hate em *cough* C2 *cough*, offer unique features and designs, and now they appear to be offered in the US market. The launch has been teased on Reddit over the past few weeks, but now the new website is live at www.jonsbousa.com. The site offers the usual product specs, support and contact stuff, but it also includes an exciting feature for USA based folks – an online shop. While the range is limited at the moment, I’m sure they will add more products as time goes on. Excited at being able to source a Jonsbo …

ASUS announces the ROG Maximus VIII Impact

Today, ASUS is officially showing off the new ROG Maximus VIII Impact, their enthusiast Mini-ITX offering for the Z170 platform. Some of the highlights of the new model include updated aesthetics to match the other Z170 ROG boards, 802.11ac 2×2 WiFi, USB 3.1 in type-A and C, a PCIe 3.0 x4 “U.2” connector, SupremeFX Impact III audio card with a nice-looking shield, 2x DDR4 slots, and an included fan extension card for 3 extra fan headers. The full specifications list can be found here. I put U.2 in quotation marks because it seems ASUS has taken it upon themselves to call the …

Nvidia launches the GTX 950

Today Nvidia is launching the GTX 950, a new mid-range card aimed at the $150 market. While cards like the GTX 980Ti and Fury X grab headlines, this more affordable price bracket is much larger in terms of sales volume and as such is an important launch for Nvidia, considering their previous offering, the 750Ti, is now almost a year and a half old. The GTX 950 uses a slightly cut-down version of GM206, the chip used in the GTX 960, and as such features performance between the 750Ti and 960. For now we’re not seeing any of the AIB …

Intel Z170 Motherboards Launch

Intel’s new Skylake platform partially launches today, starting at the high-end with two new CPUs (the i7-6700K and i5-6600K) and new motherboards based on the Z170 chipset. The rest of the CPU lineup and the other motherboard chipsets will be released at a later date. Here are the Mini-ITX and microATX Z170 motherboards that have been announced so far: Mini-ITX ASRock Fatal1ty 170 Gaming-ITX/ac AnandTech has a pic and some specs of the Fatal1ty Z170 Gaming-ITX/ac but nothing on the ASRock site or at any retailers. My suspicion is that this board won’t be available right away, a common trend as you’ll see. Highlights …

Today EVGA is launching the X99 Micro2, a refresh with several much needed improvements over the original X99 Micro. Notable changes are the all black capacitors, a USB 3.1 type-C port on the rear IO, PCIe 3.0 x4 32Gb/s M.2 slot (lanes shared with the bottom PCIe slot), isolated audio, 4 more Sata 3.0 ports (for a total of 10), and a few other nice tweaks.
