EVGA launches the X99 Micro2

Today EVGA is launching the X99 Micro2, a refresh with several much needed improvements over the original X99 Micro. Notable changes are the all black capacitors, a USB 3.1 type-C port on the rear IO, PCIe 3.0 x4 32Gb/s M.2 slot (lanes shared with the bottom PCIe slot), isolated audio, 4 more Sata 3.0 ports (for a total of 10), and a few other nice tweaks.

The other specs are carried over: microATX form factor, Intel LGA 2011v3 socket, four DDR4 RAM slots, 3 PCIe 3.0 slots (40-lane: x16 / x16 / x8 and 20-lane: x16 / x8 / x4), USB 3.0 header, Intel gigabit NIC, etc.

Unfortunately the CPU socket is still too close to the top PCIe slot, which will limit the selection of compatible air coolers. The bottom of the RAM slots don’t have tabs anymore so installing and removing RAM won’t require taking out the top video card first though, that’s nice.

This is a hard launch with the board available today in the USA at EVGA’s website for $230

Availability and price in other markets is unknown.
