AMD’s excellent RX 9070XT has dropped to $629 at Micro Center after spiking to roughly $1,000 in recent times. Even better, this is the SFF friendly PowerColor Reaper model that measures in at 2-slots in width (42mm) and 304mm in length, and packs a full 16GB of VRAM.
Ghost S1 owners might want to take a look at this one as it comes within 1mm of the GPU length limit for the case, but should fit. If you’re running this card in a Ghost S1, please post in the comments below and lets us know your experience.
This should also work well for the original NCASE M1, and Fractal Node 202. Case owners who have adjustable GPU clearance such as the Fractal Era 2 and Terra can also benefit with large CPU cooling.
The Radeon 9070XT has proven to have excellent performance in modern titles, and can trade blows with the 5070Ti in rasterization based games per Hardware Unboxed’s 1440P 18 game average. Ray Tracing performance still lags behind Nvidia being roughly on par with the RTX 5070 in Hardware Unboxed’s 1440P RT 6 game average when they tested it. This still places it ahead of the 7900XTX and in roughly the same league as the RTX 3080 for ray tracing. Additionally, the 9070XT benefits from FSR 4.1, which is a substantial improvement over previous FSR implementations, and closes the gap in visual quality against Nvidia’s DLSS.
