The Eric Experiment Builds Custom SFF 486 Retro PC With Actual Vintage Hardware

This has to be one of the coolest SFF projects I’ve ever seen. The Eric Experiment, seen above pointing at pure awesome, built a real 486 DX4 100MHz  into a custom made 3D printed case. He didn’t stop there, as he also crafted a mini-monitor to go with it.

The system uses an ISA backplane as the foundation for the system. He then used a 486 SBC for the CPU and RAM, ESS soundcard, Tseng Labs ET4000 for graphics, and a SMC ethernet card. Eric designed and 3D printed the case from scratch.

This mini retro monster is showcased running Windows 95, DOS, and Windows 3.11. Eric also shows us a few games like SimCity 2000, Lemmings, and The Dig running on it.
