New list looks like this. Also I am planning on a 20 minute Prime95 Blender test run for each heatsink. If anyone can suggest a better testing methodology or software (? AIDA64 ?), I'm all ears.

- Intel Stock Cooler w/ copper core
- Intel Stock Cooler w/o copper core
- Noctua L9i
- Thermolab LP53 (would test with NF-A9x14)
- Thermolab !TX 30
- Cryorig C7
- Zalman CNPS2X
- Scythe Kozuti
- Arctic CP11
- Silverstone AR05
- ID Cooling IS40 V3
- Deepcool HTPC 200 Aluminum (80mm)
- Deepcool HTPC 200 All Copper (80mm)

looking at this newegg list of 50-mm coolers the Dynatron K199 seemed interesting

Ah, that kinda blows. Do you have any personal recommendations on a good cooler for the Asrock X370 ITX in a Node 202? A bit of modding wouldn't be any trouble at all as long as the temps are good. I'm more worried about the reviews on other X370/B350 itx boards that mention high vrm temps. I recently saw this build and since the AXP-100R has gone out of production that build is probably my best bet for good temps without heavy modding afaik.

Hard to say, most Chinese coolers don't support AM4 yet. I guess Cryorig C7 is the best performing one so far, but maybe Kmpkt knows better about that than me.

You guys konw of an adapter to adapt a lga2011 cooler to a 1151 socket (if such thing even exists)

If you're talking something like a Dynatron that's meant for LGA2011 only, then no. The LGA2011/2066 has the mounting studs permanently attached to the ILM (CPU bracket) so mounting systems for it are completely different than LGA115x.

ahh right, wanna scratch an old itch: anyone knows where did those 2011-v3 ILMs without the mounting studs come from?

I used a pair of Scythe Kotetsu ( LGA 1151 ) on a FCLGA1366 socket before. The trick was to bypass the permanently attached by installing some "M3 5-50mm (MIA) DISTANZHÜLSEN - DISTANZBOLZEN - ABSTANDSHALTER - ABSTANDSHÜLSEN." studs. Those same studs that you normally use to install your motherboard onto the case backplate.

They fit into the cpu back plate and then you screw a normal screw bolt to hold the 1151 CPU. It takes some time to figure it out. In my case it think it was 7mm studs or 13mm. Not sure, i ended up buying several length to be sure. And it has held two Scythe Kotetsu on my dual socket 1366 system for the last 2 years. ;)

Yes, i want to try this Inter-Tech 88885216 T-318 cooler with a fan in an S4 on an i7 6700k...

Anyhow, it arrived today so i will se if it fits at all. Height should be ok.

Ready to rock...

Huge, huge thanks to @Trouffman for the loan of the OBT mini. Thing is awesome and I will hopefully be doing a little review of it in the not-too-distant future.

Final lineup includes

Intel Stock Cooler All-Aluminum
Intel Stock Cooler Copper Core
Noctua L9i
Cryorig C7
Deepcool HTPC-200 Copper
Dynatron K199
Scythe Kozuti
Zalman CNPS2X
ID Cooling IS40 V3
Thermolab LP53
Thermolab ITX30
Thermaltake Engine 27
Silverstone AR05
Arctic Cooling CP11

As of right now the plan is to do a 20 minute run of each heatsink on a 7700K at stock using Prime95 Blender. I MIGHT look for time to peak temperature as a stat worth tracking as I feel it would give an idea of how effectively you might expect the heatsink to blunt thermal throttling in real world CPU spikes.

Keep an eye on the temps with that ITX30, had to shut Turbo off on my 3770K and that's only rated at 77W.

Hey, I ordered a Dynatron that looks like the one you have (though I think mine has aluminum and not copper fins).

Yeah I got through the two Intel stock coolers and the ITX30 on the 7700K today and all three throttled hard. As a result, I've decided to test everything on a normal 7700 first and then only take a selection of them to test on the 7700K.

Yeah I thought about that too. I want to keep the content relevant for a really basic user who doesn't know how to tweak things like that and I figured just dropping in the other chip would work best.

Kmpkt, could you please measure the height of the coolers from the baseplate to the top of the cooler? Would help with any kind of caaes.

Yeah I am planning to do a mini review of each heatsink which will include dimensions, weight and dBA at 100% fan speed as well as subjective reviews of their individual mounting hardware and other design nuances.

Nice. Looking forward to it.

Weirdly, as you can see in the picture, the lp53 has no contact in the middle of the surface, as if it isnt completly flat.

This would result in a bad rating in a comparsion against other cooler :/

I have to see what the cause is, the surface of the cooler or the surface of the cpu heatspreader (6700k)

P.s. There is a really nice review of coolers up to 50mm on the german tomshardware site if you want to take a look
Pics are in english though

More information can only benefit the search for the best cpu cooler ;)

Those are great as they include basically all of the sub-50mm coolers from Europe I didn't bother picking up. Comparing my results to those using the L9i as a reference should be great.
