No words needed really. I could easily fit this hardware in a 3.6L case, yet here it is in an old server full tower
Just spotted the PSU
I wish this was intentional! My custom case is waaaaaay too overspecialized for watercooling, and not be able to use it for aircooling is the result@Damascus
Is it as bad an 'offence' when it's intentional??
You could do with one of the many SG05/06/13 cases going spare at the moment!I wish this was intentional! My custom case is waaaaaay too overspecialized for watercooling, and not be able to use it for aircooling is the result
That gives "WC" a whole 'nother meaning.Found this powerhouse this morning:
Damn that case is kinda beautiful, isnt itCan my glorious workstation be part of this inefficiency thread?? (Dated 2003/2004)
I cry every time I look at this old badass build!
Cooler Master ATC-210C Aluminium
ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe
AMD Athlon FX-55
Zalman CNPS7000C-Cu CPU Cooler
Corsair XMS Pro 2GB Kit (2x1024MB) DDR400MHz
(6 Years ago added 2 Corsair Value to reach 4GB of RAM)
x2 Western Digital WD360GD VelociRaptor 10000RPM in RAID0
x1 Hitachi 120GB 7200RPM SATA
x3 Cooler Master Cool Drive 3
OCZ ModStream 520W PSU
2x Cooler Master NEON Led Fan 80mm
The GPUs are “more recent”, suddenly.
Originally there were x2 Gainward 6600 GT Golden Sample in SLI
(I remember that I’ve fucked up the 6800 Ultra to replace the cooler, then I decided to stay “only” with the two 6600 GT)
Windows 10 Pro 1607
WHAT ELSE? If only would exist an ITX Motherboard, I could shrink everything this beauty!
Enjoy!
Can you explain what that SODIMM-looking slot on the motherboard, below the GPU, is?Can my glorious workstation be part of this inefficiency thread?? (Dated 2003/2004)

Exactly. Is the first attempt from Nvidia to the SLI. Basically activating the “DUAL SLOT” you can put in SLI two identical GPUs.seems to be... a lane switch? not sure, but it has a physical passive PCB key to enable SLI on the board

what the whaaat?
Oh man, all the coolermaster cases in that period were amazing!Damn that case is kinda beautiful, isnt it
So, what, the latter 8 PCIe lanes on the first x16 slot are routed through this small AIC and then either to the first or second slot depending on which way the thingy is inserted? That is insane. I mean, that would add significant latency to half the PCIe signalling to the first slot. I can't imagine that not causing BSODs left, right and center.Exactly. Keeping it in SINGLE slot as I do know allows to have multiple different GPUs.
That was terrific at that time!
X2 6600gt where cheaper that a single 6800 Ultra and the performance was on par!
Well, this is not Insane for 15 years ago ?So, what, the latter 8 PCIe lanes on the first x16 slot are routed through this small AIC and then either to the first or second slot depending on which way the thingy is inserted?
